Arsenal are hoping to beat Barcelona and Manchester United to the signing of Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.

The Express say the Gunners are front of the queue to lure Neves away from Molineux following the Midlands outfit’s poor start to the campaign.

Portugal international Neves, 25, is consistently linked with a move after some notable displays in the Premier League over recent seasons.

He reportedly turned down a move to Old Trafford in the summer in favour of repaying the faith shown in him by Wolves.

But having slipped into the relegation zone with a 2-0 defeat to West Ham yesterday, the No8’s future is once again a talking point.

Neves’ Wolves contract expires in 2024 and reports in Spain suggest that will see his asking price lowered from £55million to £40m.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is known to be keen on midfield reinforcements with Thomas Partey’s fitness a regular concern.

Barcelona are said to be admirers of the Wolves man, with Liverpool also credited with an interest previously.

With Sergio Busquets reportedly close to a move to MLS, Barca see Neves as a prime candidate to replace the Spaniard.
