Manchester United are interested in bringing former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham back to the Premier League.

England international Abraham, 25, is currently thriving with Italian giants Roma having netted 34 goals in 82 appearances since joining the Serie A side in August 2021 for £34million.

Though he has found the net less this term than in his maiden campaign, five direct goal involvements in his last six league outings suggest the Londoner is coming back to form.

Journalist Ben Jacobs claims that United boss Erik ten Hag is a huge admirer of Abraham and the marksman features on his list of potential summer additions.

With loanee Wout Weghorst struggling to make an impact at Old Trafford so far, an out-and-out centre forward looks to be a top priority for the rapidly improving Red Devils.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is thought to be the club’s No1 target but if they are priced out of a move for the Nigerian, attentions could well turn to Abraham.

Giallorossi boss Jose Mourinho criticised his No9 back in November, suggesting his performance levels were being adversely impacted by hopes of making Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.

Yet his coach has recently heaped praise on Abraham’s improved efforts, telling press last week: "There was a small period where I had some doubts, some concerns — not regarding his quality but him personally.

"Now even if he doesn’t score, his contribution is important. In the second half he did everything perfectly.

"He had great link-up play with Dybala tonight. He’s clearly having a good time."

Given his contract in the Italian capital runs until the summer of 2026, a sizeable fee will likely be required to make a deal happen.
