Manchester City are determined to make a profit on £42million flop Kalvin Phillips.

The midfielder has managed just 760 minutes of action since joining the Citizens from Leeds in the summer of 2022.

But The Mirror claim Etihad chiefs will demand £50m to let him go in January as Aston Villa, Liverpool, Newcastle, West Ham and Juventus scramble for the England playmaker's signature.

Phillips, 26, knows he needs more game time as Gareth Southgate steps up his preparations for Euro 2024.

Newcastle are in desperate need of a midfielder with Sandro Tonali banned until August over breaches of betting rules.

But they could face a fight as Phillips enjoys a stellar reputation thanks to his performances with England and former club Leeds.
