- Four of Southampton’s last six home games have seen over 2.5 goals with both sides scoring
- West Brom have scored nine goals in their last four away matches
- Recommended bet: Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score

Saturday afternoon sees a clash between two sides who have finally found some form after difficult starts to the season, as Southampton welcome West Brom to St Mary’s.

The hosts had been struggling to find their feet under new boss Russell Martin until recently, but are unbeaten in their last seven matches, in a run that was kickstarted with a 3-1 win over title-chasing Leeds.

West Brom were struggling for wins at the start of the campaign, but have won their last three games, conceding just once in that run, which sets up what could be a closely-fought affair at St Mary’s.

Team news

The hosts will be without centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis after the loanee picked up his fifth booking of the season at Millwall. Striker Ross Stewart may be available for the first time since his arrival from Sunderland.

Centre-back Kyle Bartley went off with a shoulder injury against Hull and is set to miss out for the visitors, alongside long-term absentees Josh Maja and Daryl Dike.

The stats

Four of Southampton’s last six home games have seen over 2.5 goals with both sides scoring.

West Brom have scored nine goals in their last four away matches.

Southampton have lost just twice in their last 24 home matches against West Brom.

Albion are unbeaten in four games, winning three, while Saints are unbeaten in their last seven fixtures, winning four.

Both teams have scored in five of West Brom’s eight away games this term.

West Brom have won five of their last seven league games under the charge of Carlos Corberan

Prediction

Both of these sides sit in the top six of both the Championship table and the league form table, suggesting there may not be much to split the pair on Saturday in what could be a goal-filled affair.

Southampton are unbeaten in their last seven games while the Baggies are unbeaten in four so, with the form of both sides making the result difficult to call, look to goals for the value.

The visitors have netted nine goals in their last four away matches and clearly have no issues in finding the net on their travels, which will give them some much-needed confidence heading to Southampton, where they have won just once in their last 24 visits.

However, they are not the most reliable defensively, with both teams scoring in five of their road games this term, and will almost certainly concede to a Saints team who have netted seven times in their last three home matches.

But again, like Albion, the Saints have struggled at the back and have only recorded two clean sheets this season, with both coming away from St Mary’s.

Four of the hosts’ last six home matches have seen over 2.5 goals with both sides scoring and, given both of these team’s issues at the back and firepower going forward, the same outcome looks likely in Saturday’s meeting.
