It was a mixed week for Italian sides in the Champions League as Juventus made a winning start, Bologna, Atalanta and Inter Milan picked up draws and AC Milan were beaten with ease by Liverpool.

The focus turns back to domestic action, however, with the small matter of a Milan derby the standout fixtures, and we have predicted all 10 matches taking place in Serie A this weekend.

Cagliari vs Empoli (Friday, 5.30pm)

The hosts are second bottom on just two points and may struggle against Empoli, who have beaten Roma and earned a point against each of Bologna and Juventus this term.

Score prediction: 0-1

Verona vs Torino (Friday, 7.45pm)

Torino are unbeaten in 10 meetings with Verona but six of those finished level and the pair have each enjoyed a decent start to the season, so expect another draw.

Score prediction: 1-1

Venezia vs Genoa (Saturday, 2pm)

Basement boys Venezia are still searching for a first win of the campaign, but that is unlikely to come against Genoa, who are up in 11th and held champions Inter to a draw in their opener.

Score prediction: 0-2

Juventus vs Napoli (Saturday, 5pm)

Both Juventus and Napoli have made great starts under their new managers, Thiago Motta and Antonio Conte, and the two may be happy to take a share of the spoils in Turin.

Score prediction: 1-1

Fabio Pecchia will want to see a big reaction from Parma following two successive losses in Serie A.

Lecce vs Parma (7.45pm)

This pair are locked on four points in mid-table and a low-scoring draw seems likely given Lecce have netted just once in Serie A this term.

Score prediction: 0-0

Fiorentina vs Lazio (Sunday, 11.30am)

La Viola have drawn five of their six matches in all competitions this season and may have to settle for another point against Lazio, who have won two and drawn one of their opening four league games.

Score prediction: 2-2

Monza vs Bologna (Sunday, 2pm)

A sharing of the points seems likely here given three of Monza’s last four matches have finished level and Bologna, who are far weaker than they were when finishing fifth last term, have drawn each of their last three in all competitions.

Score prediction: 1-1

Roma vs Udinese (5pm)

Surprise leaders Udinese will be feeling confident ahead of their trip to the capital after winning three and drawing the other of their opening four games and could land a shock victory at Roma, who were beaten 2-1 by Empoli in their last home match and are languishing in 16th.

Publicidad

Score prediction: 1-2

Simone Inzaghi has his sights set on a Milan derby victory for Inter against the Rossoneri.

Inter Milan vs AC Milan (Sunday, 7.45pm)

The champions were resolute when drawing 0-0 at Manchester City on Wednesday and should be far too strong for their rivals AC, who have lost the last six Milan derbies and who shipped seven goals in two games against Inter last term.

Score prediction: 2-0

Atalanta vs Como (Monday, 7.45pm)

While Como did well to draw 2-2 with Bologna last weekend, they still may struggle against an Atalanta side who dominated Arsenal in the week and came from behind twice to beat Fiorentina in their last league game.

Score prediction: 3-1
