England head coach Sarina Wiegman admits her side have learned a "hard lesson" after they lost 3-2 to Belgium in the Nations League.

The defeat leaves the Lionesses' qualification hopes in doubt but wins over the Netherlands and Scotland in the final two rounds could still secure the European champions a place in the semi-finals.

After the match in Leuven, the Dutch manager said: "We have to be tighter in moments that we don't expect to lose the ball and we didn't do that well enough today, so it's a hard lesson for us.

"I think the tempo was not great but we did create lots of chances and totally dominated the game.

"But at moments we lost the ball and we knew that they were so dangerous and they got two or three big chances on the counter-attack.

"Going forward we have to beat the Netherlands by more than one goal at Wembley and we have to win the other game as Belgium are in a very good place.

"We know we have work to do and we always have work to do but we have put ourselves in a hard position at the moment."

Lucy Bronze was left dejected at the end of the match

Lucy Bronze scored England's first goal of the night but she could have had a hatful as the Lionesses pushed to win the game.

And after the match, the Barcelona full-back admitted that she and her colleagues must take more of their chances in the final third.

The 32-year-old said: "I think we actually created more chances than the last game but we were just sloppier on the ball in general.

"The goals all came from loose passes and apart from that they didn't really create much, particularly in the first half.

"We probably had a few chances to put the game to bed if we were a bit more clinical in front of goal and we couldn't get the ball across the line at the end.

"It's one of those things and we know we have to do a lot better, it is something we have to work on collectively as well as individually ourselves and go again."
