- Oscar Gloukh's brace earned Salzburg a 2-0 win over Austria Vienna at the weekend
- Brest’s 3-0 loss at Auxerre was their third defeat out of three away games in Ligue 1
- Recommended bet:
Salzburg to beat Brest and both teams to score

Salzburg dominated the possession in their Champions League opener away at Sparta Prague, yet could only manage one shot on target in a 3-0 defeat.

They will hope for a more productive performance when they host European newcomers Brest, who got their campaign off to a winning start with a victory against another Austrian club in the shape of Sturm Graz.

Team news

Salzburg will be without the injured Aleksa Terzic, Daouda Guindo, Takumu Kawamura and Maurits Kjaergaard.

Samson Baidoo remains a doubt for the Bundesliga club with a calf injury.

Bradley Locko, Achraf Dari and Pierre Lees-Melou all seem likely to be absent for Brest, with Julien Le Cardinal missing the defeat at Auxerre on Friday through illness.

The stats

Eric Roy's Brest have lost all three away games in Ligue 1 so far this season

Salzburg had 71% of the possession against Sparta Prague, which was their highest ever total in a Champions League fixture.

The last Ligue 1 team to win their first away match in the Champions League were Auxerre in 1996 and six French sides have failed to claim an opening victory on the road since then.

Salzburg are unbeaten in four home games this season, winning three and drawing once, which includes their Champions League qualifiers against Twente and Dynamo Kyiv.

Brest have won two and lost four of their six Ligue 1 games this season, conceding 13 goals in those defeats.

Prediction

Salzburg have become Champions League regulars, but they are struggling to win games in this elite competition, stretching back into last season.

The 3-0 defeat to Sparta Prague was their sixth game in the tournament without a win, of which they have lost five, but this looks like a match where they could end that run.

If Per Lijnders’ side can dominate in the same way that they managed to against the Czechs and make more of their possession, then they should take advantage against their leaky French opponents.

Brest’s poor away form is a concern, as not only have they lost all three of their Ligue 1 games on the road this season, but they will play their home Champions League matches on neutral territory in Guingamp.

Though Salzburg have an unbeaten home record, they have conceded in three of their four games and Brest could get on the scoresheet in defeat.
