Nottingham Forest's survival last season was built on a decent home record, with eight of their nine wins in the Premier League coming at the City Ground.

They picked up where they left off by beating Sheffield United 1-0 last month and will hope to grab a second home victory of the campaign against another newly-promoted side, Burnley.

The Clarets beat Forest on the banks of the Trent when the duo met last month in the Carabao Cup. Zeki Amdouni's late strike made the difference but both Steve Cooper and Vincent Kompany made wholesale changes for that match.

Kompany is still looking for his first point as a Premier League manager and could again be frustrated by Monday's match-up.

Team news

Forest will be without Danilo due to a hamstring injury, while Serge Aurier and Anthony Elanga both face late fitness tests.

Michael Obafemi and Hjaldmar Ekdal remain sidelined for Burnley due to their respective muscular injuries, while Denis Churlinov is ill.

However, the Clarets are boosted by the returns of Aaron Ramsey and Vitinho, while Anass Zaroury is also back in contention following suspension.

The stats

Nottingham Forest won eight times at home in the league in 2022-23 and again took all three points in their only home game this season at the City Ground.

Taiwo Awoniyi netted the opener in their 2-1 win over Sheffield United and has scored or assisted his team in his last eight league games, laying on the assist for Elanga's winner at Chelsea ahead of the international break.

Burnley lost their last game 5-2 at home to Tottenham and another defeat on Monday would see them equal their club record of five consecutive Premier League defeats.

This is their first away game in the league this season, losing all three of their matches at Turf Moor by an aggregate of 11-3.

Monday's fixture is the first time the pair have met in the top flight since 1970-71, while Forest's only win over Burnley in their last 10 meetings was a 2-0 home success in 2012.

However, they do have a particularly strong record when playing on Monday, with their only Premier League defeat in 17 matches held on the first day of the week coming against Everton in October 1996.

Prediction

It has been a tough start to the season for Burnley boss Vincent Kompany

Burnley have impressed some onlookers with their attractive style of play but there is already a feeling that the freedom with which they stormed to last season's Championship title might leave them too open for Premier League football.

Cooper's quality as a coach has been demonstrated by Forest's improvement under him and their tally of six points from the 12 available suggests they can kick on and enjoy a decent mid-table finish.

The Tricky Trees' success last term was built on beating the teams in and around them, especially at home, and that could again be the case on Monday.
