Newmarket's Future Champions Weekend concludes on Saturday afternoon.

The seven-race card at Headquarters is spearheaded by the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at 2.55pm as the top 2YO colts from Britain and Ireland draw swords.

The Cesarewitch Handicap follows at 3.35pm and is among the most storied UK handicaps in the calendar.

With conditions rated 'Good to soft-good in places', we have picked five horses for you to follow on what threatens to be a big afternoon for local trainer Charlie Appleby.

1.45pm - Godolphin Flying Start Zetland Stakes (Group 3, 1m2f)

Charlie Appleby will be hoping to land the Godolphin-backed Zetland Stakes and he's got two outstanding contenders in Hafit and GOLDSPUR

Publicidad

The former was a debut winner over 7f on the July Course here and built on that to be second in a Haydock Listed contest since at 1m.

He has more to come but his stablemate and fellow Dubawi colt Goldspur looked smart in his winning debut at Sandown (1m, heavy) last month, getting stronger the further he went in a six-length demolition. James Doyle's mount is taken to make it 2-2.

LiveScore selection: Goldspur

2.20pm - Emirates Autumn Stakes (Group 3, 1m)

Having contrived to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in last month's Royal Lodge over C&D this is a compensation bid for COROEBUS dropped in grade for Charlie Appleby and William Buick.

The son of Dubawi looked to have that Group 2 in safe keeping after establishing a four-length lead with a furlong to go but he got lonely in front and was collared in the dying embers by Royal Patronage.

Buick will likely be holding fire for as long as he can now and his mount can atone for that defeat.

Imperial Fighter and United Nations are amongst the dangers.

LiveScore selection: Coroebus

2.55pm - Darley Dewhurst Stakes (Group 1, 7f)

Everywhere you look at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon there is going to be a Charlie Appleby good-thing lurking.

Chief among them may be unbeaten Dewhurst contender NATIVE TRAIL

He is 3-3 so far and won the Group 1 National Stakes in Ireland last month with lots to spare.

Defeating the likes of Royal Patronage, Masekela and Point Lonsdale into second in his three races amounts to exceptionally strong form and he is set to become only the fourth British-trained Dewhurst winner since the great Frankel in 2010.

Champagne Stakes winner Bayside Boy is a threat, while Irish duo Straight Answer and Glounthaune are intriguing for Ger Lyons and Aidan O'Brien respectively and smart sprinter Go Bears Go is not one to discount tackling this new distance.

LiveScore selection: Native Trail

3.35pm - Together For Racing International Cesarewitch Handicap (Heritage Handicap, 2m2f)

Ryan Moore rides Willie Mullins' M C Muldoon

Willie Mullins has gained a stranglehold on this great race, winning the previous three, and he saddles as many as six Cesarewitch contenders this time.

Any of the sextet could go well but Ryan Moore is on M C MULDOON, last sighted on the Flat when a luckless second at Royal Ascot in June.

He is 4lb higher here but seems sure to go well.

Live Your Dream was second in a C&D trial last month and is nicely treated off the same mark, even before considering Adam Farragher's claim, while Goobinator has rediscovered his mojo lately on the Flat and is another with a jumps background that should be considered at a decent price.

LiveScore selection: M C Muldoon

4.45pm - Darley Stakes (Group 3, 1m1f)

Barney Roy has not been spotted since winning a German Group 1 last September but he goes well fresh and is potentially a cut above these, despite his veteran status against some promising younger rivals.

Cambridgeshire winner Bedouin's Story has earned a crack at this, while Mostahdaf has only been defeated once in five career starts and that was quick ground in a Royal Ascot Group 1 this summer. He rebounded at Sandown recently.

BRENTFORD HOPE has looked a Group-race winner in waiting at times in his nine-race career and the Camelot gelding was a silver medallist in a French Group 2 on his most recent start.

The extra furlong should suit Richard Hughes' 4YO and any rain will aid his cause.

LiveScore selection: Brentford Hope
