Burnley to win

Two in-form teams go head-to-head at The Den on Sunday, as Millwall prepare to host Burnley in the Championship.

The Clarets are looking to make a swift return back to the Premier League after relegation and have enjoyed a solid start to the campaign with 23 points from their first 12 games.

While they will be pushing for automatic promotion, Millwall have emerged as potential play-off candidates following back-to-back wins over Plymouth Argyle and Swansea City.

However, Burnley will provide a much sterner test and the Lions' winning run might well be brought to an abrupt end at The Den on Sunday.

Team news

Millwall have no fresh injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Clarets.

Casper De Norre and Femi Azeez are pushing for starting roles after impressing from off the bench against Swansea last time out.

As for Burnley, Jeremy Sarmiento is available for selection after missing the last two games for the Lancashire outfit with a knock.

The stats

Millwall are unbeaten in their last four Championship games, with wins over Plymouth and Swansea following draws against West Brom and Derby Country.

Burnley are unbeaten in their last nine games in all competitions, while they have not lost in any of their last six visits to The Den.

The Clarets have the best defensive record in the Championship, conceding five goals in their first 12 games of the campaign.

Publicidad

Millwall have not beaten Burnley in any of their last seven attempts in all competitions, with their last victory over the Clarets coming at Turf Moor back in February 2012.

Prediction

These are two in-form teams, but the visitors look to have that extra bit of quality and defensive acumen to pull off a win in the capital this weekend.

The Clarets have proven themselves to be tough to beat in the Championship this term, losing just one of their first 12 games this season.

Already picking up decent wins on the road at Luton Town, Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday this season, Burnley’s only Championship defeat this term was at the hands of the current league leaders Sunderland.

While Millwall have been showing real signs of progress under manager Neil Harris, Sunday’s game against a Championship title contender might be a bridge too far for the Lions.

Scott Parker’s side can come out on top in the midfield battle this weekend and head back to Lancashire with another valuable three points.
