United issue blast from the past with new away kit
Manchester United have issued a blast from the past with the release of their new away kit.
The Red Devils are returning to a vertically striped shirt nearly two decades after they first sported the design.
A base of green is accompanied by white blocks punctuated by maroon-red lines, which represent the famous red bricks of the city's architecture.
Completed with a white ribbed crew neck, the strip offers a fresh and modern look as Erik ten Hag's Carabao Cup winners bid to pick up more silverware.
Inigo Turner — design director at adidas — said: "We're incredibly excited to return to a design that is fundamental to the heritage of this great club.
"Vertical stripes are in the DNA of Manchester United and we hope this bold new look captures the imaginations of fans as they travel the globe supporting the team.
"We have intentionally taken cues from the city itself, to provide both the players and travelling fans with a piece of home, wherever they are wearing it."
Fans can see United wear the kit for the first time tomorrow when Ten Hag's team take on Wrexham in San Diego during their pre-season tour.
It is available to buy from today from Manchester United and adidas stores as well as online.
