LiveScore Racing Preview: Nottingham, July 20, 2021
Evening racing takes place at Nottingham on Tuesday with a select six-race card at the Colwick Park circuit.
The action begins at 5.45pm, with racing concluding at 8.20pm and conditions are set to be 'good to firm-good in places'.
We have picked out five horses for you to follow.
5.45pm - National Racehorse Week 12th-19th September Handicap (5f)
The opener at Nottingham can go the way of ABATE for Adrian Nicholls and Barry McHugh.
The Bated Breath gelding won twice last summer at Thirsk (5f, good to soft) and York (6f, good).
He has been in consistent form this season, with figures of 26,332 prior to being well beaten in a Class 4 York event over 6f this month.
As a result of that latest run, he is within touching distance of his previous win-mark and can take advantage of what is a class/trip-drop.
LiveScore Selection: Abate
6.45pm - Bet At Racingtv.com Handicap (1m6f)
Race 3 on the Nottingham card is a stayers' event and it may rest between Whitwell and DE MAZZARO to snare the prize.
The former won last time at Ripon for Mick Easterby but has to prove his stamina tackling this journey for the first time.
By contrast, Tristan Davidson's son of So You Think is a hurdles/Flat winner in Ireland and has perked up in two runs for this trainer.
He went close on stable bow at Beverley (1m4f, good) and got up close home since at Musselburgh (1m4½f, good to firm) as favourite.
He is 3lb higher but will be effective at this trip and can add to his tally.
LiveScore Selection: De Mazzaro
7.15pm - Racing Tv Profits Returned To Racing Fillies' Handicap (1m½f)
Celtic Empress twice scored at Hamilton in May/June and lost nothing in defeat since at Doncaster.
David O'Meara's daughter of Golden Horn has fine claims again but she may be undone by PROFESSIONAL WIDOW for the Richard Spencer team.
She was a C&D winner in May and both runs since came in deep Class 2 events at Royal Ascot and Newmarket.
A return to calmer waters can bring about further progress with Hayley Turner back on board.
LiveScore Selection: Professional Widow
7.50pm - Follow RacingTV On Twitter Handicap (6f)
Admirable Lad and Secret To Success are noted, while the now-gelded Paymaster is worth keeping an eye on for improvement — but NURSE FLORENCE appeals most in this sprint.
Jamie Osborne's filly won at Lingfield in February and was second-best over this C&D (good to firm) last month on her first outing back from a short break, doing well to finish where she did after a poor start.
She did not run to form at Chepstow last time, but she has been eased 2lb and Danny Tudhope takes over from an apprentice now.
LiveScore Selection: Nurse Florence
8.20pm - racingtv.com Apprentice Handicap (1m2½f)
CONTRAST was well beaten in runs at Redcar and Newcastle to begin this season but he justified connections' optimism last week at Beverley (1m2f, soft) when bagging a Female Jockeys' Handicap in decisive fashion under Joanna Mason.
The style of that win hints that a 4lb penalty is negotiable in this Apprentice Handicap.
LiveScore Selection: Contrast.
