LiveScore Racing Preview: Kempton, March 2, 2022
Kempton Park's all-weather evening card takes centre stage on Wednesday, where there are eight races at the Sunbury venue between 5pm and 8.30pm.
The Road To The Kentucky Derby Conditions Stakes at 7pm is the feature and we have picked five horses for you to follow.
5pm - Unibet Supporting Safe Gambling Handicap (5f)
The Richard Hughes-trained filly INCOME looks a live threat to all on her handicap bow.
The daughter of Profitable had shown promise on the turf/all-weather in five runs prior to scoring in clear-cut fashion at Lingfield over 6f in January.
She made all that day and the race has worked out nicely. The drop in trip might not be enough to prevent a winning start in handicaps.
LiveScore selection: Income
5.30pm - Unibet Horserace Betting Operator Of The Year Handicap (1m2f)
Having won all three starts so far — all at Newcastle over a mile — TYRRHENIAN SEA should prove too good for this opposition.
Roger Varian's gelded son of Dark Angel was only pushed out to score at Gosforth Park last time, and while the handicapper has reacted with a 12lb hike, he's progressing at a rate of knots and may still be ahead of the assessor with more improvement to come at this new trip.
LiveScore selection: Tyrrhenian Sea
7pm - Road To The Kentucky Derby Conditions Stakes (1m)
The best form belongs to Harrow, a three-time winner on turf last summer and third in a Newmarket Group 3 at the back end of the term over 7f.
Andrew Balding's charge looks like he will get this mile trip. BLUE TRAIL is a danger to him, however, for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin.
He went about his business impressively at Southwell five weeks ago on what was just his second start and there is surely more to come from him.
LiveScore selection: Blue Trail
7.30pm - Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap (7f)
Epsom Faithfull has landed wins over C&D on her last two starts and a 2lb rise for the latest of those is far from harsh. She will have claims again but TINTORETTO is preferred.
Tom Ward's gelding was just denied over this trip at Wolverhampton in February, his first run since November, having come five-lengths clear with a lightly-raced winner.
The handicapper nudged him up a pound for that win and he will surely go close with a repeat effort.
LiveScore selection: Tintoretto
8.30pm - Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap (1m3f)
He is A Latchico, Hooves Like Jagger and Last Mission are all last-time-out winners but HOW HARD CAN IT BE is preferred — the filly being the fourth contender in this Kempton nightcap to have scored last time.
That was just the sixth start of her career and the first occasion she had run beyond a mile-and-a-quarter.
She appeared to appreciate the extra emphasis on stamina and, with the win behind her, looks set to improve again over this extra furlong.
LiveScore selection: How Hard Can It Be.
