LiveScore Racing Preview: Hamilton, August 27, 2021
There is plenty of racing action on Friday as the bank holiday weekend looms.
The UK and Ireland host seven meetings, including an evening offering from Hamilton Park.
The Scottish venue hosts seven races from 4.35pm through until 7.40pm, with the feature being the Phoenix Utilities Ltd Lanark Silver Bell Handicap at 6.40pm over a mile-and-a-half.
The going stick is set to read 'good' and we have selected five horses for you to follow.
4.35pm - Contraflow Traffic Management Ltd Nursery (6f)
Kentucky Rose made all to win an Ayr maiden over this 6f trip at the start of the month and did it with plenty in hand.
She is respected now but maybe was flattered in how that race panned out, while the second has been well beaten since.
Things have been quiet for Mark Johnston of late but this track has often been good to him and SUBJECTIVE VALUE could be an improver.
His Ayr novice second was promising and it was a decent Newmarket maiden in which he was held since.
LiveScore Selection: Subjective Value
5.10pm - Whysettle IT Networks Maiden Stakes (1m)
Thunder Legend sets the standard for Hugo Palmer.
The Night Of Thunder colt showed promise on debut at Newmarket in July, though he only matched that since at Beverley, and he needs to take a step forward now.
One capable of doing that might be GORAK.
Richard Fahey's newcomer ran into traffic woes more than once at Beverley on debut last month and, granted a clear run and with improvement likely, can be competitive now.
LiveScore Selection: Gorak
6.10pm - British Stallions Ebf Fillies' Handicap (1m1f)
The William Haggas-trained SWEET BELIEVER has plenty going for her here.
In July, she won successive races at Nottingham (1m½f, good to firm) and Redcar (1m, good) before going down a neck at the latter venue early this month under a 6lb penalty.
Adam Farragher was not on board that evening, having previously ridden her to success, but he returns now claiming 5lb.
They may well be too strong for this line-up.
LiveScore Selection: Sweet Believer
6.40pm - Phoenix Utilities Ltd Lanark Silver Bell Handicap (1m4f)
MAHRAJAAN made it two wins from three starts when defying a penalty to win by 9½-lengths at Ripon early in the month.
An opening mark of 85 is not any kind of a gimme but William Haggas' charge gets an allowance taking on older horses — and that can prove telling as he was quite impressive last time.
LiveScore Selection: Mahrajaan
7.10pm - Phoenix Utilities Ltd Handicap (1m4f)
Millie The Minx is a reliable dual-purpose performer and has two course wins to her name.
She won over hurdles last month at Cartmel and is a key player but perhaps the market will be too strong in her favour.
Plenty of these have struggled to win, so maybe it is a good spot for BOUNCING BOBBY to shed the maiden tag.
He has not been with this trainer long and has been very competitive in his last three starts — including runner-up over 1m5f here.
He can surely be expected to oblige at this sort of level before too long.
