Josh Neufville’s superb strike was the difference as AFC Wimbledon made it three League Two wins from four with a 1-0 victory against Fleetwood.

The Dons, who defeated Premier League side Ipswich in the League Cup on Wednesday, looked the more confident team in the early stages.

Jake Reeves created the first chance of the match with a dangerous delivery into the box but the ball was scrambled away to safety.

Wimbledon’s Neufville broke the deadlock in the 28th minute, finding the top-left corner with a sublime finish from the edge of the penalty area.

Fleetwood looked desperate for an equaliser after half-time.

Mark Helm fired wide with a wild volley before Ronan Coughlan failed to test Owen Goodman with a left-footed strike from inside the box.

Reeves stung David Harrington’s gloves with a powerful effort from 20 yards out as the hosts looked to double their lead.

Matty Stevens went through on goal in the 72nd minute only for Harrington to conjure a brilliant save with his left leg.

Fleetwood’s Mipo Odubeko went one-on-one with the goalkeeper in the closing stages but Isaac Ogundere got back to win the ball and secure a 1-0 victory.
