Emma Navarro to win 2-1

Jasmine Paolini was a finalist at the French Open earlier this year and the Italian is also progressing well at Wimbledon this summer.

But she is set to run into Emma Navarro in the quarter-finals and the American is also excelling at the All England Club.

Navarro is fresh from dumping out compatriot and Wimbledon second seed Coco Gauff last time out, while seventh seed Paolini progressed past 12th seed Madison Keys, who retired hurt.

This is the furthest either of these players has progressed at Wimbledon and they will not go down without a fight.

The winner of this quarter-final will be reward with a semi-final clash against either Donna Vekic or qualifier Lulu Sun.

The stats

Navarro has won 36 of her 51 matches on the WTA tour this season, winning one singles title in the process.

Publicidad

These players have met three times with Navarro prevailing on all three occasions and their most recent encounter in Miami in March went to three sets.

Three of Paolini's four matches at Wimbledon this summer have been settled in straight sets, although three of her matches have also featured tiebreaks.

Navarro has won seven of her nine matches on grass in 2024.

Prediction

Both Paolini and Navarro have defied expectations at the All England Club this summer but the odds look about right for this quarter-final contest.

Publicidad

Navarro is warm favourite to progress and for good reason.

Navarro has barely put a foot wrong at Wimbledon this year and her opponents have not been easy.

After a 6-0 6-2 demolition of Qinwen Zhang in her opener, Navarro took down the experienced Naomi Osaka in straight sets before recovering from a set down to beat Bad Homburg champion Diana Shnaider.

And if that was not enough, Navarro then defeated tournament second seed Gauff in straight sets and she looks ready to secure her place in the last four.

Paolini has also not done a lot wrong, although she was handed a walkover win against Keys last time out and was on the back foot in that match at the time of her opponent's withdrawal.

After losing a second-set tiebreak, Paolini was locked at 5-5 with Keys in the third set and that match could have easily swung the other way.

Navarro has looked the more consistent and impressive in the tournament but seventh seed Paolini has built up Grand Slam experience with her recent run at the French Open.

And while the American is the best pick in the match betting, the better value selection is Navarro to win this match in three sets.
