Taylor lauds Keating as Man City knock Arsenal out of FA Cup
Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor highlighted Khiara Keating's resilience in helping her side beat Arsenal 1-0 to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Laia Aleixandri provided City's winner in the 74th minute when she stabbed home a loose ball inside the box — but it was the performance of their goalkeeper that secured victory in North London.
Keating made several crucial saves to deny the Gunners including clawing a late corner off the goal line away to safety.
After the win, Taylor applauded the 19-year-old for her performance to ensure the Citizens remain in contention for FA Cup glory.
He said: "It is a huge win and a huge performance from the girls.
"Keating, when she had to make saves, is a bit of a redemption from when she got a lot of stick when she came here last year.
"For a young player to go through that and come through with a clean sheet is the reason why we love the game."
City have been on a blistering run of form, which sees them second in the Women's Super League, drawn to face Chelsea in the Conti Cup semi-finals and now earning a spot in the FA Cup last eight.
Taylor talked up their consistency and was happy with how well-placed his side are in every competition.
He said: "10 wins consecutively — I'll just make that point.
"Any slight slip-up in a cup competition you are done. WSL is like a cup competition where you have to be flawless, we have positioned ourselves really well.
"We look forward to the draw in the FA Cup. It is a magical competition, the girls gave everything and I am so proud of them."
The quarter-final draw will take place tomorrow from 7pm on BBC One, with former FA Cup winners Fara Williams and Alex Scott alongside Jermaine Jenas.
