Kane trains after ankle scan

England captain Harry Kane trained today to allay fears he could miss Friday's World Cup clash with the United States.

The striker, 29, had a scan on his ankle after picking up a knock in England's 6-2 win over Iran on Monday.

But Three Lions goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has revealed the influential striker is fine ahead of their second Group B clash.

Pickford said: "I think he is good. I'm sure he is fine.

"He was out on the grass with us today, which is good. He is our captain."

Defender Harry Maguire was involved in training following his head injury against Iran but midfielder James Maddison was not with the group after missing out on Monday.

The Samurai Blue found themselves trailing 1-0 to the four-time World Cup winners at half-time but strikes from Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano secured a memorable win in Qatar.

And former Republic of Ireland midfielder Keane was quick to insist they fully deserved the result in their opening Group E clash.

The ITV Sport pundit, 51, said: "It's a long way back [at 1-0 down] and the [Japan] manager deserves huge credit. He had to make those changes and it was part of his game plan as he had to freshen things up.

"They were clinical. There were question marks about [Manuel] Neuer for the second goal but you can't begrudge them their victory.

"There was never any doubt they would bring the spirit, fight and energy to the party, but they've shown intelligence and great quality.

"Often, you see substitutes who can't get up to speed with the game, but all of them had an impact to lift their team-mates around them. They all affected the game.

"They've lifted their country."

USA not intimidated by England

Tyler Adams is relishing the prospect of facing England

Tyler Adams insists USA are not intimidated by England ahead of Friday’s Group B clash.

The Three Lions outlined why they are one of the tournament favourites with their impressive introduction against Iran, while the Americans were held to a 1-1 draw with Wales.

Stars and Stripes captain and Leeds midfielder Adams, 23, said: "We are eager to bounce back and now have the opportunity to do that against a good team.

"We are not intimidated. We know how much quality they have.

"I have had the opportunity to play against a lot of them in the Premier League this year but we have a good team as well."

Gregg Berhalter's side impressed for large parts of their clash with the Dragons, only to be pegged back late on.

They went ahead in the first half through Timothy Weah, who cleverly poked home following a wonderful driving run by Chelsea star Christian Pulisic.

On Pulisic, Adams added: "He is an unbelievable player.

"What you saw on the goal, he is probably the only player on the field that can set that play up.

"That is a glimpse of what he can do. He is super talented and he is going to be a huge, integral part for us moving forward."

Heung-Min Son is fit for South Korea’s World Cup opener against Uruguay on Thursday but will wear a mask after facial surgery.

The Tottenham star and South Korea captain, 30, had an operation earlier this month after fracturing his left eye following a collision during a Champions League game against Marseille.

Son has been training with an eye mask in Qatar but his availability for their first Group H clash has now been confirmed.

Boss Paulo Bento said: "Son can play and will be able to play.

"The fact he will be wearing a mask is not inconvenient for him, it is natural for him.

"We will see tomorrow how it will be. Our hope is that he will feel comfortable as far as possible. He knows, and we know, that after this injury we cannot take any risks."

Son is sure to be a tasliman in Qatar after scoring 35 goals in 105 caps for his country.

England fans reveal ticket chaos

Large sections of empty seats were seen at kick-off of England's clash with Iran

The Football Supporters’ Association has called on Fifa to resolve issues of 'disappearing tickets' after some England fans experienced lengthy delays ahead of the game against Iran.

A number of supporters were unable to enter the Khalifa Stadium on time for the Group B clash after several reports of tickets disappearing on the official Fifa phone app.

Large sections of empty seats were seen as the game kicked off, and a member of the FSA’s England Fans’ Embassy has now revealed the chaotic scenes outside the ground.

Ashley Brown said: "The problem with disappearing tickets has been widely reported and has been experienced by our England Fans’ Embassy team first hand.

"On that occasion one of our team had two tickets on his phone, he entered the stadium, and the other simply disappeared, requiring a trip to ticketing.

"At that point apps and technology were out the window as a guy with a wodge of paper tickets was simply writing seat numbers on them and handing them out.

"This issue is well documented and FIFA simply has to get on top of it. At the England-Iran game some fans had to queue in excess of two hours to get this sorted.

"Supporters want to know that FIFA are taking this seriously by widely communicating what they’re doing to fix the problem and what matchgoers should do if it happens to them — this needs to be tackled now.

"We’d advise all supporters to arrive early in case of any future issues."
