Nkunku extends Leipzig stay

In-demand forward Christopher Nkunku has signed a new deal with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.

In a hammer blow for his suitors, the 24-year-old Frenchman has put pen to paper on a contract which runs until the summer of 2026.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been linked with Nkunku in recent months after he fired an impressive 35 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions last term.

Speaking about his new deal, Nkunku said: "I'm delighted to continue wearing the RB Leipzig jersey.

"It was clear to me that my time here is not over yet. We want more! I was really impressed by the club's efforts to keep me.

"RB Leipzig has made a name for itself internationally in recent years and we have repeatedly confirmed that we can compete for titles. In the future, we want to build on that."

There is some hope for the Premier League trio, however, as Nkunku reportedly has a £51.6million release clause that will be activated next summer.

El Clasico dates confirmed

The reverse fixture at Barca's Camp Nou is scheduled for March 19, with Xavi's men hopeful of closing the gap to their rivals in 2022-23.

Champions League winners Madrid won the Spanish title by 13 points last term and Carlo Ancelotti's side are warm favourites to retain their crown.

Nagelsmann heaps praise on Mane

Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann is thrilled with the 'selfless' attitude of his new recruit Sadio Mane.

The ex-Liverpool winger, 30, completed his £35m move to the Bundesliga champions yesterday and has already impressed his new boss with his open-mindedness on where he will play.

Nagelsmann said: "Right from the first conversation he made a very selfless impression, which is extraordinary for a player with such a big name.

"He said, quite modestly, that he can imagine himself in any position. It's rare to experience that in a first conversation, that a player puts themselves completely at the service of the club and the coach.

"That made our urge to get the signing over the line even greater."

Blades pair charged

Rhian Brewster and Oli McBurnie (both right) have been charged by police

Two Sheffield United players have been charged following violent scenes after their Championship play-off semi-final against Nottingham Forest in May.

Thousands of fans spilled on to the pitch at the City Ground after Forest edged the contest on a penalty shootout, with visiting forward Billy Sharp assaulted by a home supporter.

Now, Blades duo Rhian Brewster and Oli McBurnie find themselves the subject of allegations from the police, though it is not yet clear what exactly the charges relate to.

A Sheffield United statement read: "Both players voluntarily engaged in interviews with Nottinghamshire Police in the aftermath of the fixture which saw their team-mate, Billy Sharp, the victim of assault in the chaos which followed the final whistle.

"Brewster and McBurnie strenuously deny the charges brought against them."

Germany adjust gender ruling

Transgender and non-binary players in Germany can now decide for themselves whether to play men’s or women’s football.

The DFB also confirmed the ruling was included in the match regulation for amateurs, juniors and the futsal rulebook.

A statement explained: "At its core, this ruling says that players with a personal [gender] status that is 'diverse' or 'no reference' and players who change their gender can take their own decision whether they will be issued an eligibility to play for a men's or women's team.

"This is also the case for transgender footballers who can now change teams at a moment they decide or can stay on at the team they have been playing for."
