Benz clicks into gear

Karim Benzema and Aleksandar Mitrovic both got off the mark in the Saudi Pro League on Thursday evening.

Reigning Ballon d'Or holder Benzema bagged in the 17th minute of a 4-0 win at Al-Riyadh after misfiring in the opening two matchdays.

Meanwhile, ex-Fulham marksman Mitrovic scored a trademark header on his debut for Al-Hilal in 4-0 victory at Al-Raed, which was marred by Sergej Milinkovic-Savic's second-half red card.

Benzema's contributions helped Al-Ittihad remain top of the table after three matches while Al-Hilal sit two points behind in third place.

The 19-year-old was purchased by the Blues last January and featured in Mauricio Pochettino's pre-season squad.

But he has now made a temporary switch to fellow Premier League side Forest who will be hoping that the Brazilian can help guide them to safety.

On his move to the City Ground, Santos said: "I am very happy and excited to be here. I know that Forest is a big club, they play good football and they have good players, which is important for me.

"It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League and I can't wait to enjoy playing."

Forest’s chief football officer Ross Wilson added: "Everyone knows how talented Andrey is, so naturally we are pleased that among the considerable interest in him, he and Chelsea have chosen Nottingham Forest. We are all delighted to have him."

Paulo Silva told reporters in his homeland: "There was in fact a proposal and an intention to buy from Saudi Arabia that started in June.

"There was also a very strong approximation, with a proposal and will on the part of Paris Saint-Germain.

"And there was the continuous interest from Barcelona, which year after year has wanted Bernardo in the squad.

"Of course, there was also a desire to keep Bernardo at City. Things were structured and the decision was made with our feet on the ground."

Dortmund unveil fan designed kit

Borussia Dortmund have unveiled their new away kit

Borussia Dortmund have unveiled their away kit for the 2023-24 season which was picked from 15,000 fan submissions.

PUMA have worked with the Bundesliga club to honour the supporters' creativity and passion by featuring a fan-designed strip, a process they had already completed for their home kit.

The all-over grey print pattern on the black jersey encapsulates an aerial view of the historic Borsigplatz square, where BVB was founded in 1909.

Marco Mueller, who worked on the kit for PUMA, said: "We were overwhelmed with the number of submissions from fans and we just had to bring this initiative back for the away kit.

"The design selected is a profound tribute to Borsigplatz and serves as a constant reminder of Dortmund’s rich footballing legacy."

Kudos to Kudus

Mohammed Kudus is reportedly on the verge of joining West Ham

Mohammed Kudus bagged a hat-trick in what could be his final game for Ajax on Thursday night.

The Eredivisie side secured a 4-1 win in their Europa League play-off first leg against Ludogorets in Bulgaria.

Kudus, 23, is reportedly on the verge of joining West Ham after talks with Brighton broke down in recent weeks.

But ahead of the match, Ajax head coach Maurice Steijn made his feelings on the situation evident.

He said: "It is very clear that he will be there for this two-match fixture. I hope he stays with us.

"As for the rest, that’s something on [director of football] Sven [Mislintat]’s plate — in combination with potentially interested clubs. That goes beyond me.

"Everyone within the club and also Mo himself knows that I very much want him to stay."
