Gordon's hopes alive

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has confirmed that Anthony Gordon could be fit to face Manchester City in the FA Cup after the winger went off injured in the recent 3-2 defeat at Chelsea.

He said: "It was a strange one because when you watch it back you fear it's a serious injury. He partly trained yesterday.

"We didn't do a great deal due to the schedule this week but he joined in and it's great news for us. We'll train again today and make a judgement after that."

Howe went on to talk about Gordon being called up to Gareth Southgate's latest England squad.

He said: "I believed he could [make the England squad] but for me, it was all about him coming here to represent Newcastle. Whenever we sign a player of that age, it's what can we do to improve their game.

"He was in a brilliant place to come to us and push on, to develop parts of his game. He's improved but this is just the start for him."

Silva wants repeat performance

Marco Silva is planning another upset against Spurs

Marco Silva has called for more of the same from Fulham ahead of their Premier League match against Tottenham.

He said: "It's going to be the third time that we're going to play against them.

"We lost away, we went through in the Carabao Cup against them at home.

"If you asked me if I would like to repeat the same performance that we had at Craven Cottage when we played against them in the Carabao Cup, I would love it because we played really well that game.

"We controlled them well, against a brave side and a top quality side. We were really brave as well to play in the way we wanted and to make life really difficult for them.

"And, of course, it's going to be the same approach tomorrow, knowing that they are a really difficult side to play."

Osho out

Gabe Osho looks set to stay on the sidelines

Luton manager Rob Edwards has confirmed that defender Gabe Osho will miss the crucial relegation dogfight against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The centre-back picked a knee injury in the recent draw with Crystal Palace and was absent from the 4-3 defeat at Bournemouth in midweek.

Edwards said: "He's still in pain today, so not going to be good for tomorrow.

"There's about five centre-backs out and there's not many teams in the Premier League who would be able to cope with that.

"So it is difficult for us, but again I have to focus on the group we've got available to us and we trust them to go and get a result."

Ten Hag knows Liverpool's weaknesses

Erik ten Hag believes that he knows the weaknesses of Liverpool

Erik ten Hag refused to admit that Liverpool were the favourites in the FA Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Dutch coach was asked whether the visiting Merseysiders would be expected to win despite the Red Devils' home advantage.

Ten Hag said: "It is a difficult one. I never think about this.

"It starts on zero. We are ready and I don't think about the opposition.

"I respect them, as I do every opposition.

"We know where their strengths are and where their weaknesses are."

The Brazilian forward has been unavailable with a hamstring injury but has now returned to training.

O’Neil said: "He has done really well, incredibly well.

"He's in a great mood and the lads are really pleased to have him back in training.

"It's an unbelievable effort for him to get back into full training as quickly as he has. It's now on us to manage him the best way we can and get the best out of him.

"We were expecting to be without him a lot longer than we have been. We're delighted to have him back in training and it's given the group a real lift."

Pep talk on De Bruyne fitness

Kevin De Bruyne will miss Manchester City's FA Cup match

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Kevin De Bruyne will be unavailable for Manchester City’s FA Cup quarter-final against Newcastle.

The playmaker was substituted during the Citizens' 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

Guardiola said: "He is not ready. He already played at Anfield with some problems.

"But he's getting better, just not ready for tomorrow."

Richarlison return

Richarlison is in contention to face Fulham

Ange Postecoglou has provided good news for Tottenham fans, ahead of the Londoners' derby against Fulham.

The Australian tactician was quizzed about the fitness of Micky van de Ven and Richarlison, who have both suffered with injury issues in recent games.

Postecoglou said: "It's not as severe as his last one [Van de Ven’s hamstring injury]. Nowhere near as severe and he probably came off at the right time.

"So he will miss tomorrow, but with the international break, pretty confident, if things go well, he won't miss too much more.

"The only other one is Richy [Richarlison], he trained today so we will see how he pulls up.

"If he pulls up OK, he will probably be available against Fulham."

"Pretty similar structure [to before] and it means a very uncomfortable [opponent] to play against.

"It's quarter-final so you don't expect any easy opponents. Very interesting and I am really looking forward to it.

"Let's see what we can do. I have a lot of respect for what Atalanta are doing in the last few years. Very consistent team."

Liverpool will host the Serie A club at Anfield in the first-leg on April 10th, before travelling for the second-leg in Italy on April 17th.

But first is Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final against fierce foes Manchester United,

Publicidad

"He is back to training for us. I think everything is going well.

"Tomorrow he again will be in the squad for Sunday.

"We didn't talk today about his injury but when a player is back and they are excited, like the rest of the players."
