Brentford to win and both teams to score

It has been a tough start to life in the Premier League for winless Ipswich and they are set for another difficult away day when they travel to Brentford on Saturday.

The Tractor Boys have picked up four creditable draws in their first campaign back amongst the elite since 2002 but four defeats in their other games means they head into late October having yet to register a victory and that suggests a relegation scrap is on the cards.

Brentford, meanwhile, have once again demonstrated their Premier League credentials as Thomas Frank's men have already racked up three victories — all of which have tellingly come at home.

Team news

Brentford will hope Gustavo Nunes, Mathias Jensen and Aaron Hickey can all be passed fit to be named in the squad but Igor Thiago, Joshua Da Silva and Rico Henry all remain out for the hosts.

Ipswich have injury issues, too, as Ali Al-Hamadi, Axel Tuanzebe, Massimo Luongo and Jens Cajuste are all still ruled out for the visitors.

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna has yet to steer his side to a victory in the top flight

The stats

This is the first ever top-flight meeting between the two sides.

Only Aston Villa, with five, have scored more headed goals in the Premier League this season than Brentford's four.

Brentford have scored first in each of their last six league games.

Publicidad

Ipswich have had the fewest shots (75), fewest shots on target (23) and had the fewest touches in the opposition's box (130) in the Premier League so far this term.

Prediction

Brentford have been in great form at their GTech Community Stadium home, managing three wins from their first four games when comfortably seeing off Southampton, Crystal Palace and Wolves.

They will be confident of extending their unbeaten run on home soil to five matches against an Ipswich outfit that has been competitive in plenty of games so far but continue to struggle to get results.

It is no surprise that the Tractor Boys are finding it difficult in the top flight and although they have managed solid away draws at Brighton and Southampton, they were routinely dismissed by Manchester City and West Ham, losing to both sides 4-1.

Brentford were somewhat unfortunate not to get anything from last weekend's trip to Manchester United, when they went in front but ended up losing 2-1, and they can quickly make amends by seeing off Ipswich.

McKenna's side have scored in three of their four away matches, though, and should be able to get on the scoresheet again as they go up against a Bees outfit that despite picking up 10 points from a possible 12 at home, have yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans.
