Atalanta to win & over 2.5 goals

Atalanta have put themselves in a strong position to reach the Europa League final after a draw in the first leg of their semi-final in Marseille.

They will be confident that most of the hard work has been done and a strong home record means their French opponents have a huge task in booking their spot in the Dublin showpiece.

Team news

Atalanta will be able to welcome back Isak Hien after he was banned for the first leg and he could provide a straight swap with Sead Kolasinac, who suffered a thigh injury in that 1-1 draw.

The home side will have to do without Emil Holm and Rafael Toloi, while Marseille are expected to make the trip to Bergamo without Valentin Rongier, Bilal Nadir and Bamo Meite.

Jean-Louis Gasset's Marseille look up against it having won just one of seven away games in Europe this season

.Marseille have conceded at least twice in their last five away games.

.OM have been beaten in four of their last five road outings.

Prediction

Atalanta knocked out the Europa League favourites Liverpool in the quarter-finals and they look primed to progress even further after a satisfactory 1-1 draw at Marseille in last week’s first leg of their semi-final.

Publicidad

It is turning into an excellent season for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team as they have a strong shout to finish in the top four of Serie A and also have a Coppa Italia final against Juventus to look forward to.

It is their home record that makes them an attractive proposition here as they have lost just twice in their last 14 home games, with one of those being against the Reds when they had already virtually guaranteed their semi-final place with a 3-0 win at Anfield.

Striker Gianluca Scamacca is in red-hot form and that looks bad news for Marseille, who have struggled on the road both domestically and in European competition.

Their only road win in their last 10 matches was a 5-1 success at Ligue 1's bottom side Clermont and their record of 12 goals conceded in their last five away games is not one that provides any confidence.

Eight of Atalanta’s last 11 home matches have produced at least three goals and it would be no surprise if La Dea booked their passage to Dublin in style.
