Arsenal are in need of a striker.

The Gunners were left to rue their lack of an out-and-out goalscorer over the Christmas period, falling to defeats against West Ham and Fulham.

Those results have left them fourth in the Premier League table — and there have been calls for Mikel Arteta to bring in a clinical forward.

Ahead of their FA Cup clash with Liverpool, we look at some of the potential options for Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney has been the name on everyone's lips over the last few weeks even though he has not played a single minute of football since May.

The Brentford striker's suspension has done nothing to quell interest in his services.

Arsenal have repeatedly been linked with the 27-year-old, who scored 20 Premier League goals last season.

As well as being the dependable goal scorer the Gunners currently lack, Toney is also the perfect attacking focal point.

Ivan Toney was only outscored by Erling Haaland and Harry Kane in the Premier League last season

No striker in the division won more aerial duels than the Brentford man in 2022-23 (109) and he could act as the ideal foil for Arsenal’s many other attacking talents.

The sticking point could be the transfer fee with talk of a £100million asking price.

Dusan Vlahovic

Should Toney prove to be too expensive, Arsenal could turn to Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

The 23-year-old has scored six goals in 16 Serie A appearances so far this season and reportedly could be available for a fee of £50million.

Vlahovic has not always been the first name on the teamsheet under Max Allegri, starting 11 of 18 league games in 2023-24.

He has yet to truly hit the heights of his spell with Fiorentina since making the switch to Juventus in January 2022.

The Gunners were linked with the Serbia international at the time and Arteta could decide now is the time to pull the trigger.

Victor Boniface

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface could be a more left-field option for Arsenal.

The 23-year-old, who is set to feature for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, has netted 10 times in 16 appearances for the Bundesliga leaders this season.

There is still an element of rawness to his game, with an expected goals tally of 12.18 suggesting he could have scored even more.

But there is no doubting the threat he poses to opposition defenders.

Victor Boniface has been prolific since joining Bayer Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer

Boniface has also provided seven assists in the Bundesliga and ranks third in the division for completed take-ons (41).

Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso said: "With Victor Boniface, he is still very young, maybe we didn't expect this so quickly from him.

"But obviously, we are also very pleased that he has made such a good impact."

Boniface could be the most affordable of Arsenal's options and is also among the most exciting.
