Antoine Griezmann became Atletico Madrid's all-time record goalscorer as Real Madrid won the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup 5-3 after extra-time.

Los Blancos triumphed in a dramatic Madrid derby as Stefan Savic scored an own goal in the 116th minute and Brahim Diaz confirmed the victory in Riyadh with virtually the last kick of the game.

Carlo Ancelotti's side will now face either Osasuna or Barcelona in the final on Sunday.

Atletico thought they had won in normal time when Antonio Rudiger put the ball in his own net but Daniel Carvajal equalised in the 85th minute to send the fixture to extra-time.

Griezmann's record goal came at the end of a frantic first half, with the Frenchman firing home a right-footed shot from outside the area in the 37th minute to level the game at 2-2.

Before the iconic moment, Ferland Mendy's strike had put Los Blancos into the lead after Mario Hermoso's opener was cancelled out by Rudiger.

Griezmann's 174th goal for Los Colchoneros means he has overtaken the legendary Luis Aragones as the club's all-time leading scorer.

The ex-Real Sociedad ace's collection of strikes for Atletico have come across two spells, with the first of them between 2014 and 2019.

His controversial big-money move to Barcelona after that was unsuccessful and he returned to the capital two years later on an initial loan deal, which was made permanent last season.

Griezmann has played 368 games for Atletico across all competitions and is in the best form of his career this season, already scoring 11 goals in LaLiga.

The 32-year-old has now cemented his legacy with the Spanish outfit and he also played a key role in France's 2018 World Cup win.
