Tottenham must try to respond to Monday's dramatic 4-1 defeat at home to Chelsea but injuries and suspensions are piling up for Ange Postecoglou's side and a trip to Wolves for Saturday's early kick-off will be another difficult test.

Spurs were well on top when 1-0 up against Chelsea early on but then chaos ensued at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. 

They threw away the lead, ended up with two men sent off and, for the past few days, have been left to reflect on a crazy and ultimately damaging 4-1 defeat.

There were still some positives to take from the loss as Postecoglou's men battled gamely against the odds for much of the second half. 

But it remains to be seen what the setback has done for Spurs' title ambitions, while the game may also have longer-term ramifications due to the injuries and suspensions suffered.

Wolves may well be licking their lips in anticipation of claiming another big scalp at home on Saturday and Gary O'Neil's side look capable of earning at least a point.

Team news

Wolves are without influential wideman Pedro Neto until after the international break later this month due to a hamstring injury.

O'Neil's squad remains largely in tact, though, with young defender Hugo Bueno the only other confirmed absentee for Saturday, also with a hamstring strain.

Tottenham are without the suspended pair Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie following their red cards against Chelsea, with Eric Dier tipped to be one of the replacements.

Spurs' previously settled backline will suddenly look very different at Molinuex because Romero's fellow centre-back, Micky van de Ven, suffered what looked like a serious hamstring injury on Monday and he is also out.

James Maddison was substituted against the Blues, too, with what appeared to be an ankle injury but Spurs are hopeful it was just a knock. The former Leicester man may provide a little injury respite by being passed fit for the Wolves clash after all.

Ben Davies remains unavailable, while Ivan Perisic, Manor Soloman and Ryan Sessegnon are all out longer term for the visitors.

Tottenham's long unbeaten run — which was their best-ever start to a Premier League season — was finally ended by Chelsea in Monday's mad 4-1 defeat.

Before losing very late on at Sheffield United last weekend, Wolves had gone four games unbeaten — winning two and drawing two.

Wolves beat Manchester City at home earlier this season and have drawn with Aston Villa and Newcastle in their last two Molineux league games.

Heung-Min Son has eight goals and one assist in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season.

Hee Chan Hwang, Son's international team-mate, is Wolves' top-scorer with six league goals.

Prediction

Tottenham could suffer a bit of hangover for the trip to the Black Country following Monday's drama and taking on a dangerous Wolves side who still have plenty to prove themselves is hardly the ideal next game for Postecoglou's bruised troops.

Considering they head to the Midlands without three of their first-choice defence and there is a big injury concern too over the influential Maddison, a draw may be the best they can hope for against O'Neil's side.

Wolves deservedly beat champions Manchester City at Molinuex last month, were 1-0 up against Liverpool at half-time at home too, and can count themselves unfortunate not to have beaten Newcastle here recently as well.

Wolves have been tricky opponents for most sides at home, also drawing with Aston Villa, so they will be confident of getting at a fragile and weakened Spurs.
