West Brom vs Bristol City predictions: Baggies can grind out a win
- West Brom are within striking distance of the play-off positions
- Bristol City have hit a slump in form over the last month
- Recommended bet: West Brom to win to nil
West Brom will be looking to keep themselves firmly in the play-off picture when they take on Bristol City in the Championship at The Hawthorns on Sunday.
The Baggies are still in the hunt for a top-six finish, but 11 draws, of which 10 have come since the start of October, have stunted their progress and seen them slip down the table.
A victory at home to the Robins would help get the club back on track and the visitors are in the midst of a sticky patch of form, having won just one of their last six matches.
Team news
West Brom will be without Callum Styles after he picked up an injury in the defeat at Watford last time out, but Grady Diangana and Paddy McNair are both back in training and are pushing to be involved in the squad.
Daryl Dike is also making good progress from his ACL injury but is still a little way from returning, having only recently done some technical work with the coaches.
George Tanner has been back in full training for City and could be involved in the matchday squad, but Sinclair Armstrong will be missing for a "couple of weeks" due to a hamstring issue.
Joe Williams is still a few weeks away from returning to the fold and is looking at a comeback in early 2025, but Ayman Benarous and Adam Murphy remain long-term absentees.
The stats
West Brom's 12-match unbeaten run was ended by Watford last time out, a 2-1 defeat at Vicarage Road adding to the away concerns for head coach Carlos Corberan.
The Baggies have lost just one of their 10 home assignments, drawing six and winning the other three, while they have kept seven clean sheets at The Hawthorns.
City are without a win in their last three outings, losing to Portsmouth before drawing with Sunderland and QPR.
The Robins have collected just one point from the last nine on offer on the road, failing to score in two of those contests.
Prediction
West Brom have been the draw specialists this season, but there have been signs of late that they are starting to find more in the final third, with six goals scored across their last four games.
That extra attacking flair, coupled with a defence that has conceded just 16 league goals, should be enough to see them past a City side that has struggled on the road in recent weeks.
Corberan's hosts have kept out Leeds, Swansea, Plymouth, Millwall, Cardiff, Burnley and Coventry at The Hawthorns and they can soon add the Robins to that long list.
Liam Manning's side failed to notch at Watford and Portsmouth on their travels recently and this trip to the West Midlands looks a lot harder than those two outings.
