RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku is close to joining Manchester United and is set to treble his wages at Old Trafford.

Nkunku, 24, has been one of the standout performers in German football this term, netting 14 Bundesliga goals as well as notching seven Champions League strikes.

According to the Daily Star, his reward will be a three-fold increase in his pay as he edges towards agreeing a £90,000-a-week salary at the Red Devils.

Interim United boss Ralf Rangnick is thought to be the mastermind behind the move, having brought Nkunku to Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 in his role as director of football.

The German tactician remains a long-term admirer of the Frenchman and has urged Old Trafford chiefs to meet the £62million release clause to bring Nkunku to Manchester.

Rangnick is eager to boost his attacking ranks with Edinson Cavani set to depart this summer when his contract expires.

Nkunku is his first-choice recruit having enjoyed a breakthrough season in Germany, with Leipzig currently sat fourth in the Bundesliga table and through to the Europa League quarter-finals.

While Nkunku is in line for a big wage increase, Paul Pogba may have to agree to a pay cut if he is to join Juventus.

Italian media report that the United midfielder will see his current salary halved in order for it to fall in line with Serbian sensation Dusan Vlahovic.

Should Pogba refuse this offer, PSG and Real Madrid are waiting to pounce.

Corriere dello Sport say ex-Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is eager to reunite with stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Sarri, now in charge of Lazio, had a well-publicized misunderstanding with Kepa when the Spanish keeper refused to be substituted during the 2019 Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City.

Despite this, the former Blues manager is rumoured to be considering a loan deal to bring the 27-year-old to the Italian capital.

Finally, Fabrizio Romano understands Kepa’s Chelsea team-mate Andreas Christensen has decided that he will join Barcelona at the end of the season.
