Blackpool continued their winning league start under new manager Steve Bruce with a 2-0 victory at his former club Huddersfield.

The Seasiders scored with the only two clear-cut chances created by either side in the first half, with Kyle Joseph powering a header home after CJ Hamilton got the better of Herbie Kane to cross from the left.

A sloppy pass from Ben Wiles gifted Dom Ballard the ball inside the Huddersfield half in first-half stoppage time, and the Blackpool man quickly released Hamilton to breeze past Brodie Spencer and double the visitors’ lead.

Huddersfield changed shape from 3-5-2 to 4-3-3 early in the second half, with substitute Callum Marshall having a deflected shot tipped over the crossbar.

Blackpool goalkeeper Harry Tyrer then saved well from fellow sub Bojan Radulovic’s close-range header.

That was as much as Huddersfield had in response, though, and they have now lost five of their last six games in all competitions, including three out of four in League One.
