England made history on Sunday evening by beating Germany in extra time to clinch their first European Championship.

Goals from substitutes Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly sealed an unforgettable win in front of a record Euro final crowd at Wembley.

Here is the best of the reaction from social media as the Lionesses claimed their first international silverware.

England hero Gary Lineker led the way with a nod to his famous quote about Germany always winning.

BBC presenter Dan Walker enjoyed Kelly's post-match interview — or lack of.

Former Manchester United and England star Rio Ferdinand and goalscorer Toone go back a long way.

Liverpool legend turned pundit Jamie Carragher highlighted the importance of this success for the women's game.

LiveScore columnist Joleon Lescott was quick to applaud the Lionesses' achievements.

Not to be left out, the Royal Family paid tribute to Wiegman's impressive young side.

Georgia Stanway joked in advance of the final that the team could not supply tickets for the men — but Declan Rice evidently made it to Wembley regardless.

England men's skipper Harry Kane was among those to laud the Lionesses' achievement.

The Boy from Brent, Raheem Sterling, had his fair share of magic moments at Wembley last summer and he enjoyed this one too.

It is safe to say Piers Morgan enjoyed the European Championship final.

Finally, USWNT icon Brandi Chastain saw a little of her own celebration from the 1999 World Cup final in Kelly's shirt-twirling after netting the winner at Wembley.
