It is perhaps difficult to suggest that the league table is taking shape after just two games, with six more coming up on Saturday to potentially change the early hierarchy.

Bournemouth kick off the day's action at 12.30pm when they play host to Tottenham in a clash of new managers before a quartet of fixtures at 3pm.

The potential loss of James Maddison should be a concern for Tottenham supporters as Bournemouth are not easy to overcome on their own patch.

The Cherries have avoided defeat in seven of their last 13 top-flight home games, with three of the last five of that number featuring four or more goals.

Backing at least four goals in this encounter could prove profitable given it would have landed in Spurs' opening-game draw at Brentford and Bournemouth's most recent clash at Anfield.

But the prospect of early goals appeals more for this contest between two teams who have not been able to stop their opponents creating chances so far this term.

Arsenal vs Fulham (3pm, Saturday)

Backing Arsenal to win and both teams to score was a successful strategy in the Gunners' Premier League home games last season and that bet also clicked in their 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend.

However, Mikel Arteta's men displayed their defensive grit and concentration in the final quarter of Monday's 1-0 win at Crystal Palace, standing firm after being reduced to 10 men, and they can see off Fulham with a clean sheet on Saturday.

Marco Silva's men may struggle to match last term's top-half finish and they lost all eight of their matches against the Premier League's top four in 2022-23, including a 3-0 home defeat to Arsenal.

Brentford vs Crystal Palace (Saturday, 3pm)

Brentford and Crystal Palace played out two 0-0 draws in the Premier League in 2021-22 and last season both meetings ended 1-1 so the draw is an appealing price this weekend.

The Eagles should be competitive under Hodgson this term and they are worth backing to take a point at the Gtech Community Stadium, where Brentford were a little fortunate to hold out for a 2-2 draw with Tottenham in their 2023-24 opener.

Everton vs Wolves (Saturday, 3pm)

Everton and Wolves have had similar starts to the season, both creating plenty of chances in opening 1-0 defeats before conceding four goals in disappointing losses last weekend.

If the teams can summon up the attacking inspiration they showed in their first games then it could be a lively encounter at Goodison, so both teams to score, which dropped in both meetings last season, is worth a bet.

Everton had nine shots on target and hit the post in their home defeat to Fulham, while Wolves boss Gary O'Neil was pleased with his side's attacking enterprise at Old Trafford.

Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest (Saturday, 3pm)

The manner of Manchester United's opening two performances makes them difficult to trust but they have been pretty reliable at Old Trafford in recent years and should have enough to find the winning formula.

The Red Devils have not lost a home league game since losing 2-1 to Brighton in August of last year and they won all four meetings with Nottingham Forest last season.

Forest scored in each of their final seven away games last season, which includes twice on trips to Liverpool and Chelsea, while they also netted in a 2-1 loss at Arsenal in their opening fixture on the road.

Both teams have seen significant changes to their engine rooms since that clash, but Brighton’s intensity never drops and the return of Evan Ferguson to starting duty should boost their ruthlessness in front of goal.

Roberto De Zerbi has already got his team playing to a high level and they should overcome West Ham through a combination of relentless pressure and energy.

One-nil victories have been relatively rare during the Italian’s reign, however, and it is worth backing them to win with at least two goals in the game.

Brighton have scored multiple goals in five of their last nine Premier League home games while West Ham have shipped more than once in six of their last nine top-flight road trips.
