Crewe moved up to second in the Sky Bet League Two table with a resounding 4-1 win to end Bromley’s 12-game unbeaten run.

Omar Bogle netted twice and Jack Lankester was also on target after Michael Cheek hit back for Bromley from the penalty spot. Jamie Knight-Lebel headed a fourth late on after Bromley’s Kamarl Grant was sent off.

Ravens goalkeeper Grant Smith excelled when keeping out Max Sanders’ snapshot from the edge of the box during a slow start to the game, which burst into life with four goals inside 10 first-half minutes.

Bogle followed up his goal in Crewe’s New Year’s Day win over Carlisle by netting twice inside four minutes, driving in the rebound after Smith kept out Lankester’s shot for the first in the 28th minute.

Bromley boss Andy Woodman was booked in the aftermath of the goal and he would have been fuming again when Bogle glanced in Lankester’s driven effort at the far post for the second in the 32nd minute.

The visitors hit back within minutes through Cheek’s 36th-minute penalty, awarded after Jack Powell applied a hand to Corey Whitely’s skied effort following a free-kick.

Yet Crewe quickly restored their two-goal lead after a great finish from Lankester at full pelt. Lewis Billington was put clear down the right and squared for striker to find the bottom corner with 38 minutes gone.

Lankester was close to grabbing his second soon after the restart when he pulled a shot just past the far post.

Bromley showed some improvement in the second period but never troubled home keeper Filip Marschall and their hopes of a comeback were over when Grant picked up a second booking for a trip on Chris Long on the edge of the box.

Knight-Lebel rubbed in the misery for the visitors by heading over keeper Smith after latching onto a bouncing long ball eight minutes from time.
