The final round of group matches in the Olympic women's football tournament will be played on Wednesday, with all 12 teams in action.

Places in the knockout stages of the competition are still very much up for grabs and that should lead to some entertaining matches.

Australia vs USA (Wednesday, 6pm)

The stats

The USA have won seven of their last nine matches

The USWNT have lost just one of their 35 games against Australia

The Matildas' last three matches have featured 17 goals

Prediction

Australia were involved in one of the most thrilling matches in Olympic history on Sunday when they recovered from a 5-2 deficit to beat Zambia in their second Group B match.

However, there is no time for them to rest on that, as they need something from their final game against the USA, who have looked the strongest team in the tournament after confident victories over the African side and Germany, who they beat 4-1 at the weekend.

The fact the Matildas lost 3-0 to the Germans in their opener means they cannot sit back and we should expect them to take the game to the four-time gold medalists who last finished on top of the podium 12 years ago in London.

The USWNT's win over Germany was a real signal of intent from Emma Hayes' side, who won the CONCACAF Gold Cup and the SheBelieves Cup but still feel they have plenty to prove after a disappointing World Cup.

Mallory Swanson has chipped in with three goals already and, while Giulia Gwinn's strike on Sunday was the first goal the Americans have conceded in their last six matches, it would not be a surprise if the Aussies made their mark, even if the USA claimed a third victory of the tournament.

Colombia vs Canada (Wednesday, 8pm)

The stats

Both teams have scored in seven of Canada's last eight games

Canada have not lost in regulation time in their last 15 matches

Six of Colombia's last eight games have featured at least three goals

Prediction

Canada's Olympic quest has been rocked by a six-point deduction after they were caught spying on Nez Zealand's training, but two victories have given them a chance of progressing as one of the best third-placed teams.

A late winner against hosts France gave them that lifeline, so expect them to be positive when they face Group A leaders Colombia, who took the hosts all the way before beating New Zealand 2-1.

The South Americans will still want to book their passage after a 3-2 defeat to Les Bleues and with only two of their last eight games failing to produce at least three goals, we could be in for an entertaining clash in Nice.
