LiveScore Five To Follow at Warwick on Thursday
1.00pm - Pertemps Network Mares' "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle (2m)
Mel Rowley's mare GINGER DU VAL got off the mark over hurdles at the fifth attempt earlier this month when she prevailed at Newton Abbot (2m1f). She made all in that race in what was a smart performance.
The handicapper has been very fair as she has only gone up in the ratings by 3lb, which gives her a great chance of following up.
Expect to see her at the front end of the race and she may again take some catching.
LiveScore Selection: Ginger Du Val
1.30pm - Agetur UK Maiden Hurdle (2m5f)
Bumper winner ROYAL PRETENDER had five attempts over hurdles last season, hitting the frame twice over obstacles.
That run included a second-place finish at Market Rasen (2m4½f) behind a smart runner from Olly Murphy's yard on his final outing of the campaign.
Alan King's runner sets the standard in this maiden contest, and he has been given a great chance to prevail.
He remains open to improvement, so we should see much more from the gelding this season.
LiveScore Selection: Royal Pretender
2.00pm - Barry Smith Memorial Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (2m)
FRIEND OR FOE made a winning start over fences when he scored at Uttoxeter (2m) at the back end of last season.
Paul Nicholls' horse rose all the way up to Grade Two level over hurdles and on the evidence of his chase debut, he could be set for an exciting future.
As you would expect on his first chase outing, he made a couple of errors over his fences.
He would have been schooled throughout the summer so his jumping should be better this time and can keep up his perfect record as a chaser in this novice contest.
LiveScore Selection: Friend Or Foe
2.35pm Ignite Handicap Hurdle (2m5f)
Versatile runner BREAKING WAVES has been victorious over hurdles and fences and was successful over the former on his latest outing at Southwell (2m4½f) in June.
He kept on strongly in the closing stages of that race and Harry Whittington's gelding remains over hurdles on his return to action.
He has gone up 4lb but remains off a workable mark and the rest he has had over the summer will ensure he lines up fresh for this assignment.
LiveScore Selection: Breaking Waves
3.10pm - Colliers Saves Business Rates Handicap Chase (2m4f)
French recruit Shentri has a lot of experience over hurdles and fences for a four-year-old and this will be his 15th appearance under Rules, having been successful three times already.
Dan Skelton's runner produced his best performance yet over fences in the UK when he was third of seven at Bangor (2m4½f) last month and connections have opted to apply the first-time cheekpieces on this occasion.
They may just help him settle better and improve enough to land the top prize in this handicap race.
LiveScore Selection: Shentri
