Nerve jangling

Aaron Ramsey was left biting his nails before sealing a loan switch to Rangers on transfer deadline day.

The Wales midfielder, 31, openly admits his career stagnated at Juventus and he cannot wait to get going in the Scottish Premiership.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Arsenal man said: "It [the transfer] was a little bit nervous at times.

"There's things going on back and forth between the clubs, little changes here and there, but I was just happy in the end that we managed to get it done.

"It's the first time that it's happened to me, but yeah, it's definitely a nervy experience.

"I'm just glad everything went smoothly on Monday and I'm here now.

"I'm looking forward to this challenge and hopefully I can get back to match fitness as quickly as possible and I can show what I'm capable of doing again."

Ramsey will miss tonight's Old Firm derby with Celtic but is expected to be in line to feature against Hearts at the weekend.

Nou chapter for Auba

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could not hide his delight after completing his move to Barcelona.

Having mutually terminated his contract with Arsenal earlier in the week, the Gabon international passed a medical and agreed personal terms with the LaLiga giants.

He will be officially unveiled in the coming days but is clearly glad to be starting a new chapter in Spain.

Aubameyang, 32, said: "I am really happy to be here and I am looking forward to getting out on the field at Camp Nou.

"Barca are one of the biggest clubs in the world and it is a real honour. I have experience. I have played in top leagues and I am coming here to help and give my all for the team."

Meanwhile, Adama Traore has been presented at the Camp Nou following his switch from Wolves.

Traore, 26, who began his career with Barca, said: "Barcelona has always been my home. I'm excited to be back and I'm ready to help the team.

"Xavi has asked me to show my talent."

Ash to join Lamps

Ashley Cole is set to reunite with his old Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard at Everton.

Having sacked Rafa Benitez last month, the Toffees unveiled Lampard, 43, as their new boss on transfer deadline day.

And Cole, who is currently working with Chelsea's academy and England's Under-21s squad, is now expected to join his coaching staff.

The pair spent eight trophy-laden years together at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League, four FA Cups, the Champions League, the Europa League and League Cup.

Baggies axe Ismael

West Brom have sacked boss Valerien Ismael.

The Baggies are currently fifth in the Championship but last Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Millwall proved to be the 46-year-old Frenchman's final game in charge.

A club statement said: "West Bromwich Albion Football Club can confirm Valerien Ismael has today left his position as head coach.

"Assistant head coach Adam Murray has also departed The Hawthorns.

"The club would like to place on record its thanks to Valerien and Adam for their efforts and wishes them well in the future.

"The process of recruiting a new head coach is now under way and an appointment will be announced in due course."
