- Brentford scored in seven of their 12 away defeats last season
- Liverpool won 15 of 19 home league games at Anfield last term
- Recommended bet:
Liverpool to win and both teams to score

New Liverpool boss Arne Slot is out to make a winning start at Anfield, having begun his reign with a 2-0 victory over Ipswich at Portman Road last weekend.

The Reds toiled in the first half but Slot’s tweaks at the break helped them to ultimately make a winning start. The Reds look set to add to that against a Brentford side who have spent close to £50million on Liverpool squad players this summer.

Team news

Slot has a full strength squad to choose from for his first game in front of the Kop.

The former Feyenoord boss replaced Jarell Quansah with Ibrahima Konate at half-time at Portman Road last weekend and that is likely to be the only change to his starting XI on Sunday.

Former Reds Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg are not expected to start against their former club after summer moves to Brentford.

Bees boss Thomas Frank has a number of injury issues to deal with as Josh DaSilva, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey and Igor Thiago are all sidelined.

The stats

Brentford lost four of their five visits to the top five last season.

The Bees conceded 12 goals across those defeats.

Both teams scored in 63% of Liverpool’s home games last season.

The visitors have scored in six of their last seven away league games.

Brentford have lost all three of their Premier League visits to Anfield.

The Bees lost eight of their visits to the top 10 last term.

Prediction

Brentford head to Anfield having lost all of their three visits to the ground since arriving in the Premier League. The Bees are also coming off their toughest of those three top-flight seasons as they finished down in 16th.

The Bees lost 12 away games last term, while they were beaten in eight of their trips to the top 10. They shipped 12 goals across their five games at the top five, losing four of those matches.

Thomas Frank’s side looked bright in their opening win over Crystal Palace and there is little doubt about them going forward. They scored in seven of their 12 away losses last season and they can find the net at Anfield.

The Reds were fantastic at home in Klopp’s final season, winning 15 of 19 games. However, they saw both teams score in 63% of those matches.

While there is a new manager in charge, there have been no squad changes for Slot to work with.

Defensively there are still questions surrounding Liverpool, but they should still prove too strong for Brentford, so back a home win and both teams to score.
