Aryna Sabalenka is one game away from the Wimbledon final

- Sabalenka has won her last three meetings with Jabeur
- Sabalenka has won 17 of her 18 Grand Slam matches this season
- Recommended bet: Sabalenka -2.5 games handicap

Aryna Sabalenka has already won one Grand Slam title this season and the Australian Open champion bids to tee up a shot at a second when she takes on Tunisia's Ons Jabeur in an intriguing Wimbledon semi-final.

And while Sabalenka has a second Slam on her mind, she also has the No.1 ranking in her sights as victory over Jabeur will see the Belarusian leapfrog long-time WTA top dog Iga Swiatek at the head of the women's rankings.

For Jabeur, Grand Slam glory remains elusive but the popular 28-year-old has exorcised the ghosts of last season's final, gaining revenge over defending champion Elena Rybakina with a victory in Wednesday's quarter-final.

LiveScore Bet make Sabalenka the 3/5 favourite to advance to a first Wimbledon final at the expense of 11/8 shot Jabeur.

The stats

Sabalenka is the world No.2 with Jabeur ranked sixth and that superiority is reflected in a head-to-head record which the Belarusian leads 3-1, including wins in each of their last three meetings.

Jabeur's sole victory came in the 2020 French Open but Sabalenka has prevailed in quicker conditions, winning on hard courts in Abu Dhabi and Fort Worth and, most importantly, on the Wimbledon grass in the 2021 quarter-finals.

Sabalenka would go on to lose from a set up against Karolina Pliskova that year but there is no doubt she is a stronger player mentally now, as evidenced by her Melbourne Park win and an 18-1 Grand Slam record this season.

The Minsk native has looked as lethal as ever with her groundstrokes but her performances over the Wimbledon fortnight have been underpinned by a rock-solid serve which has seen her hit more aces than any other woman (35).

Jabeur has also served superbly, winning 81% of points on her first serve — the most in the women's tournament — and she will need her delivery to be on point again against one of the most dangerous returners on the WTA Tour.

Prediction

Sabalenka is 11/8 with LiveScore Bet to win the Wimbledon title and the Belarusian fully deserves to be favourite against Jabeur, who will be hoping that her slice-and-dice game can dim the firepower of the world No.2.

Jabeur went toe-to-toe with Rybakina and won but Sabalenka has been in even better form than the Kazakhstani this season and a change in her mental approach has been equally as impressive as the physical power which took her to the Australian Open title.

Sabalenka's power-packed groundstrokes have long looked made for the Wimbledon grass and now she is serving at the peak of her powers on a consistent basis, which spells big trouble for Jabeur, particularly given the head-to-head record.

Punters may consider taking the 3/5 on offer about a Sabalenka win, but she was in complete control in beating Anna Blinkova, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Madison Keys in the last three rounds so taking the favourite -2.5 games on the handicap could prove the better option.
