England will attempt to bounce back from defeat to Hungary when they head to Munich to face Germany in the Nations League this evening.

The Three Lions had not tasted defeat inside 90 minutes across 22 successive games prior to going down 1-0 in Budapest at the weekend.

Gareth Southgate, who is keen to build momentum with just five games remaining until the 2022 World Cup, will be demanding a response when his side head to Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena.

Germany, meanwhile, have not lost since their 2-0 defeat to England in the last-16 stage at Euro 2020, with Saturday's 1-1 draw against Italy extending their unbeaten run to 10 games.

Team news

Phil Foden missed the trip to Hungary after testing positive for coronavirus and the Manchester City midfielder remains unavailable.

Raheem Sterling was restricted to a place on the bench in Budapest after missing a few days of training through illness but he could feature against Hansi Flick's men.

Defensive duo James Justin and Fikayo Tomori are both ruled out through injury but Marc Guehi is back in contention to feature.

Marco Reus is expected to return to the fold for the hosts after missing the draw against Italy.

Boss Flick does not have any other major selection concerns but full-back Benjamin Henrichs, who was taken off after an hour in Saturday's clash, is a doubt.

There will undoubtedly be disappointment in the England camp after losing to Hungary for the first time since 1962, however they can take some optimism from their last encounter with Germany.

Sterling and Harry Kane both netted at Wembley to knock Die Mannschaft out of Euro 2020 last June.

That was the Three Lions' first win over Germany since 2016 when they ran out 3-2 winners in Berlin — coming from two goals down to earn a famous victory.

Since replacing Joachim Low with former Bayern boss Flick, Germany have yet to lose a game after winning eight on the bounce before drawing their last two games against the Netherlands and Italy.

They have won each of their four home outings under Flick — keeping clean sheets in three and scoring 19 goals along the way.

Predictions

England have won on three of their last four visits to Germany and another victory could be on the cards in Tuesday's clash.

Fixtures between the two nations, especially on German soil, tend to throw up plenty of excitement with over 3.5 goals in two of the last four and at least three goals have been scored in four of the last five.

With a huge amount of attacking talent on show for both sides, it seems fair to suggest that goals could be on the agenda once again.

History suggests that both teams will find the net in Munich, as they did in four of the last five times Germany have hosted this clash.
