Gary Neville reckons playing Manchester United and Everton makes Liverpool’s run-in easier than the one facing Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The Reds tackle fierce rivals United, their Merseyside neighbours and Antonio Conte’s resurgent Tottenham in their next three home games.

City, on the other hand, face Brighton, Watford and Newcastle in what looks an easier set of fixtures — but not to former United defender Neville.

He is adamant United and Everton are both so poor that the derbies pose less of a threat than usual to Jurgen Klopp’s side as they look to overhaul the Citizens at the top.

Neville said: "In the Premier League we've looked at City's run-in and thought 'that's an easier run-in'.

"But that's because historically we're looking at a Merseyside derby and a Manchester United game that ordinarily in any other season would be quite tough.

"Those two teams, to be honest with you, are appalling at this moment in time so they could be easier than any of the teams City have got.

"Watford are fighting for their lives, Leeds still have to win games, Newcastle as well."

Neville added: "I'd rather play Manchester United at home and Everton than West Ham away."

Yesterday's result leaves the title race tantalisingly poised with City one point ahead of Liverpool with seven games to play.

Ex-Reds midfielder Jamie Redknapp is eyeing the Anfield clash with Spurs in less than a month’s time as the crucial game.

He said: "I find this title race impossible to call. I’ve got this feeling that Liverpool vs Tottenham on May 7 will be significant.

"Can Klopp’s crew navigate that one? That might be the match which poses them a major problem. But what a rivalry this is."
