Spurs sign Vuskovic

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of 16-year-old talent Luka Vuskovic from Croatian side Hajduk Split.

The youngster will join the club when he turns 18 in 2025 and has signed a deal until 2030 with the North Londoners.

Vuskovic made his professional debut in February 2023, becoming the youngest player to feature in the Croatian top flight.

He is the youngest goalscorer in Hajduk's history and has already made 11 senior appearances.

The 6ft 3in powerhouse has made five appearances for Croatia's Under-17s, scoring once.

Spurs reportedly won the race to sign the defender ahead of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain and will look to integrate him into the first team when he arrives in 2025.

Kluivert extends with Barca

Shane Kluivert, son of football icon Patrick, has signed his first professional contract with Barcelona after turning 16.

The youngster is following in the footsteps of his father, who played 257 times for the Blaugrana and scored 122 goals.

The winger took to social media to express his delight at continuing with the LaLiga champions, saying: "Very proud and honoured to have signed my first professional contract with Barcelona.

"Thank you for the trust! Visca el Barca."

Kluivert's first professional contract will keep him at the Camp Nou until 2026 and he could follow in the footsteps of Lamine Yamal, who has already taken the step up to the first team.

The Dutchman has already made six appearances at Under-16s level for his country and is well on the way to becoming the latest star to emerge from La Masia.

Arteta's concern

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is not thinking about Manchester City's growing lead in the Premier League but admits that injuries are starting to impact the Gunners' season.

The spoils were shared in Sunday's North London derby as Tottenham twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at the Emirates.

Declan Rice was forced off at half-time for Arsenal and the Spaniard believes his exit put the home side at a disadvantage.

He said: "We're not thinking about this [City]. We have a game every three days, we try to win our games.

"When we assessed him [Rice] at half-time, he could not continue so we had to change him. 

"We have to assess him. It's strange that a player like him asked to come off because he was uncomfortable. Hopefully not [long-term], but let's see.

"It [injuries] was already a test because we missed five big players [for Tottenham], but it's what we have.

"They are really well coached. You can feel the spirit in the team, the energy in them, but I think six games is too early for everybody to discuss where we'll [all] be."

Roord's City prediction

Summer signing Jill Roord believes Manchester City have the quality to challenge Chelsea for the Women's Super League title this season.

The Dutch international joined from Champions League finalists Wolfsburg to add some more star quality to Gareth Taylor's squad.

On her aspirations for the campaign, she said: "We want to win the league. 

"In England that's not easy, because I think there are four, maybe more teams fighting to win it, but we have the quality and the ambition, so that's what we're going for.

"I don't really like to do that and focus too much on that. 

"But I obviously want to be important for my team and I hope to develop here. 

"It's a new step and a new way of playing. I hope I'm going to be important for City and we can do successful things."

Gordon's England shout

Eddie Howe believes Anthony Gordon will be on Gareth Southgate's England radar after an impressive performance in the 8-0 win over Sheffield United.

Newcastle ran riot at Bramall Lane on Sunday and Gordon, who was introduced early on for the injured Harvey Barnes, wasted no time in helping the Magpies take the lead.

His goal and assist set the Champions League competitors on their way to a commanding victory and Howe was full of praise for the England Under-21s international.

He said: "I'm sure Gareth is aware of him and I'm sure he's been aware of him for a long time. 

"All Anthony can do is just keep performing like he has and keep his mentality as strong as it has been. He has been a joy to work with and he is reaping the benefits.

"That is probably his best game for us, I thought he was very, very good. Very direct, I thought his goal was very good. 

"He just looked a real threat, he has got so much ability, so much to give and he has got the attitude to go with it as well. 

"He has got the desire to improve, I see it every day in training, it is great to see him rewarded with that."

All about the fun

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp is having fun again after the Reds continued their undefeated start to the season against West Ham.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota saw the home side win 3-1 at Anfield and Klopp expressed his delight at the level his team are performing at.

He said: "Six games in, performances go in the right direction, results are in a very good direction.

"It is just good fun. We had a tough year last year and it was not always fun for all of us and this time it looks like it is different and I am really happy.

"These boys are good footballers and when they have a great day they are extremely good.

"The reaction [to conceding an equaliser] was really top and that is, for us in the moment, the most important thing because we have to become this kind of team where it is really difficult to deal with."
