Huddersfield caretaker boss Jon Worthington got off to a dream start as his side reclaimed sixth place in League One with a 5-1 victory over Crawley.

The Terriers had not scored in their previous six home games going back to December under previous boss Michael Duff, but managed four inside the opening 30 minutes against the relegation strugglers en route to a crushing win.

Joe Taylor tapped home a third-minute opener on his return to the starting line-up from injury, converting a simple chance on the rebound after Callum Marshall had a close-range effort saved.

It was 2-0 six minutes later when West Ham loanee Marshall hit the post and saw the ricochet strike Crawley skipper Charlie Barker and bounce into the net.

Marshall found the net for Huddersfield’s third, smashing home in the 16th minute after visiting defender Panutche Camara headed a corner ball directly to his feet.

Another Ruben Roosken corner provided the fourth for the rampant hosts as Matty Pearson rose to bundle home.

Roosken made it five himself late on as he found the bottom corner, with Ade Adeyemo’s injury-time strike for Crawley the merest consolation.
