Faye White admits she is concerned by Sarina Wiegman's formation changes after England were beaten 3-2 by Belgium in the Women's Nations League on Tuesday night.

An 85th-minute penalty from Tessa Wullaert secured victory for the Belgian Red Flames, with Lucy Bronze and Fran Kirby on the scoresheet for the Lionesses.

Wiegman deployed a back four for the second game running after using the same blueprint in last Friday's 1-0 home win over Belgium — and White thinks the Dutch coach is currently unaware of the best way to set up her team.

The former Lioness skipper said: "It's frustrating that we're creating the chances but not scoring them and then also changing to four at the back in these last two games against Belgium.

"We have looked vulnerable against the counter-attack with just two centre-halves against what was a strong, quick striker.

"So she [Wiegman] keeps changing the formation. She changed it to three at the back in the World Cup.

"Has she really got the team — the way it's set up and the balance — how she wants it? I'm not sure at the moment."

England's 3-2 loss in Leuven leaves Wiegman's side third in Group A1, three points behind leaders the Netherlands but goalkeeper Mary Earps believes the team can recover from the setback.

The Manchester United stopper said: "You learn a lot from defeat. That's how great teams are made. Life isn't easy, football isn't easy. If it was, we would all be gold medalists.

"That's just not how life works, that's not how football works. You have to earn it. I think we are working hard but we have to find a way to win — and we are just missing that at the minute."

Asked what went wrong in Belgium, she replied: "We got caught in transition a few times, turning the ball over cheaply.

"That would probably be my immediate reaction but I think it is many things.

"There are a lot of little things that didn't quite go right and as a team we have to get those details right at this level, because you get punished."
