Ella Toone is proud to be making history with Manchester United and believes the Red Devils can overcome Paris Saint-Germain in the Women's Champions League tonight.

Marc Skinner's side head to the French capital with their second-round qualifying tie level at 1-1 after Melvine Malard came off the bench to score an equaliser in the first leg earlier this month.

And England international midfielder Toone is backing her side to get the job done in the reverse fixture.

The 24-year-old said: "I feel that every time we step out on to the pitch we are creating history for this special club.

"For me, it's something I've worked really hard towards for the past five years and to come away with a 1-1 was amazing.

"We dug deep in the first half when we were up against it. Some teams could have gone in four or five nil down but we stuck together, we defended for our lives and we knew what the game meant to us.

"We came out in the second half and were really brave.

"People turned up, wanted to get on the ball and create things and we know now we can perform against world-class teams."

United are competing in the Champions League for the first time but could see their dreams crushed if they lose at the Parc des Princes.

And Toone knows it will be an uphill task to pip PSG to a spot in Friday's group stage draw.

She added: "We know they are a very good side with great players who can create things out of nothing.

"They are a man-marking team and that is something that we are not used to that much but it's about finding different ways to deal with that and being brave on the ball.

"We've not played in the Champions League before together as a squad, for some of us that was our first time so it was about brushing off all the nerves and getting on with the game and I thought that the second half showed that.

"We definitely put on a great performance and one we can take a lot of positives from going into the second leg."
