A penalty from Danny Rose earned Grimsby a 1-0 win over Bromley at Blundell Park.

Kieran Green, who won the spot-kick, was sent off for the Mariners in the 85th minute for two bookable offences.

Chances were at a premium in the opening 45 minutes but Grimsby started brightly and went close through Jason Dadi Svanthorsson.

He was denied by Bromley goalkeeper Grant Smith after teaming up with Charles Vernam on the counter-attack.

At the other end, Jake Eastwood was called into action by Besart Topalloj, who drew him into a sharp save with a dipping left-footed volley.

Grimsby won a penalty in the 51st minute when Green charged through and was dragged down by Jude Arthurs, with captain Rose stepping up to slot past Smith.

Michael Cheek headed over straight after the opener and that was the best chance for a Bromley equaliser as Grimsby played out the final minutes without Green after his second yellow card.
