- Striker Matt Godden has scored six goals in his last seven appearances for Coventry
- Both teams have scored in six of Huddersfield's last seven away league matches
- Recommended bet: Matt Godden to be First Goalscorer

After losing on penalties to Luton in last season's Championship play0off final, Coventry City have made a slow start to the 2023-24 campaign.

Last Tuesday's 3-2 defeat at Cardiff City left the Sky Blues with seven points from seven matches, although they are favourites to pick up a second win of the season at home to Huddersfield Town.

Darren Moore takes charge of the Terriers for the first time since the departure of veteran boss Neil Warnock.

Moore, who led Sheffield Wednesday to promotion from League One last season, inherits a Terriers side who have taken seven points from their last three games, beating West Brom 2-1 and Rotherham United 2-0, before a 2-2 draw with Stoke City.

Team news

Coventry are set to be without the injured Milan van Ewijk, Ben Sheaf, Fabio Tavares and Callum O'Hare. Joel Latibeaudiere could replace Van Ewijk at right wing-back.

New Town boss Moore could bring Delano Burgzorg into the starting XI, but Danny Ward, Jonathan Hogg, Oliver Turton and Loick Ayina are injured.

The stats

Coventry have drawn four of their last five Championship matches.

Striker Matt Godden has scored six goals in his last seven appearances for Coventry.

The Sky Blues have kept clean sheets in four of their last five home league games.

Both teams have scored in six of Huddersfield's last seven away league matches.

Four of the Terriers' last six away wins were by a 2-1 scoreline.

Huddersfield have scored the first goal in five of their last seven matches in all competitions.

Prediction

Coventry beat Huddersfield 2-0 and 4-0 on their way to finishing fifth in the Championship last season, but they have won only one of their first seven league fixtures in 2023-24.

They face a Terriers side who will be eager to impress new boss Moore, having beaten West Brom in their final away match under Warnock.

However, Huddersfield should be wary of Coventry striker Godden, who has made a blistering start to the campaign after the departure of last season's top scorer Viktor Gyokeres to Sporting Lisbon in the summer.

Godden has shouldered the goalscoring responsibility, scoring six goals in his last seven league and cup matches including a brace in the 3-2 defeat at Cardiff last time out.

Huddersfield have kept only one clean sheet in the league this term so Coventry's in-form forward is worth backing to score first on Monday night.
