A vital match at the top of the table is set to take place at Stamford Bridge this weekend as Chelsea host Liverpool.

The Reds lost ground on Premier League leaders Manchester City in midweek as they crumbled away at Leicester, whereas the West Londoners have been struggling to find form.

This fixture is a must-win for both sides if they are to maintain their respective title challenges, with the previous encounter ending in a 1-1 stalemate.

LiveScore have put together a combined XI featuring stars from both clubs — check it out below and let us know if you agree with our selections.

Goalkeeper: Edouard Mendy (Chelsea)

A particularly difficult decision to make lays with our choice of goalkeeper — both sides have world-class stoppers in their ranks.

Alisson has been a colossus in goal for the Reds this season — keeping nine clean sheets — but it is Edouard Mendy who wins out in this instance.

The Senegal international has been more consistent for the London side and made fewer individual mistakes — it is for this reason that he gets the nod over the Brazilian.

Left-back: Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)

Andrew Robertson comfortably slots into our 4-3-3 formation at left-back.

The Scotsman plays an integral role in Liverpool's high-pressing, attacking style of play which has seen him record five assists this season.

He gets our stamp of approval over Marcos Alonso, who has been hit and miss under Thomas Tuchel. Ben Chilwell also misses out, largely due to his injury problems.

Centre-back: Thiago Silva (Chelsea)

Thiago Silva is said to be close to extending his stay at Chelsea and it is easy to see why the Blues want to keep the Brazilian.

His dominance in Tuchel's backline has contributed to his side keeping six clean sheets in the Premier League this season, with the Stamford Bridge outfit only losing three times when Silva has featured in all competitions.

Despite some extreme competition from Antonio Rudiger and Joel Matip, we cannot ignore the impact made by the veteran this campaign.

Centre-back: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk is a titan in defence — the Dutchman's presence alone is enough to frighten even the top Premier League strikers.

Regarded as one of the best central defenders in the world, Van Dijk is still yet to lose a game at Anfield since his arrival in 2018.

The 2019 Ballon d'Or runner-up has been a key contributor in helping Liverpool keep ten clean sheets in the Premier League this season, only City have recorded more.

Right-back: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

Still only 23, Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to improve with age with the full-back known for his phenomenal delivery and technique.

The England international has eight assists and two goals in the Premier League this term, which is an exceptional return for a defender.

He sees off competition from Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta to complete our defence in this combined XI.

Central midfield: N'Golo Kante (Chelsea)

At the heart of our midfield lies World Cup, Premier League and Champions League winner N'Golo Kante.

The Frenchman often goes under the radar but his commitment and contribution as a defensive midfielder is unrivaled across Europe.

His recruitment over the likes of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson is an easy decision to make for our combined XI.

Centre midfield: Thiago Alcantara (Liverpool)

Former Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara has won the favour of Jurgen Klopp in recent months — the Spaniard featured 11 times in the league before contracting coronavirus recently.

His technical prowess and ability to thread a pass through the defence of any side in Europe earns him his place in our side.

Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic miss out due to their limited ability in the final third of the pitch.

Centre midfield: Mason Mount (Chelsea)

Rounding off our midfield three is Chelsea starlet and England international Mason Mount.

The 22-year-old has already proven himself as a top-class player but it is clear that the former Derby loanee is only going to improve under Tuchel.

Mount's seven goals and four assists in 16 Premier League matches this season earn him a spot over Kai Havertz, who has been in and out of the Chelsea squad recently.

Right wing: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Mohamed Salah is the easiest pick of our Chelsea vs Liverpool combined XI — the Egyptian has scored 15 goals in 19 matches in the 2021-22 campaign.

His instinctive ability to find the back of the next has helped Liverpool find tremendous success in the last three years.

Although his time in Merseyside could be coming to an end, Salah is still seen as one of Europe's top players, and therefore must be included in our combined XI.

Left wing: Diogo Jota (Liverpool)

Diogo Jota finds himself on the left of our attacking trio — the marksman has 10 league goals and one assist to his name this season.

Jota has proven his worth in Merseyside and has become an integral player in Klopp's setup, scoring in many important matches under the German.

He currently sits second in the list of the Premier League's top scorers this season — it is for this reason that he beats out Sadio Mane, who has seen a drop in form over recent weeks.

Striker: Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea)

Romelu Lukaku completes our combined XI with the Belgian providing some excellent hold up play in the final third of the pitch.

Lukaku has missed the last six weeks of action through injury but marked his return to Chelsea's starting XI with a goal in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa.

Alongside Salah and Jota, Lukaku completes a formidable attack that would leave most clubs in Europe fearing the worst if they were to face them.
