Alcohol Free to have a short break
Andrew Balding has revealed Alcohol Free will go on holiday for a short period.
The three-time Group One winner has been one of the stars of the summer, taking the spoils at Royal Ascot in the Coronation Stakes before winning the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
Last week, Balding's star filly made the step up to a mile and two furlongs but finished a disappointing sixth in the Juddmonte International Stakes at York, eight-and-a-quarter lengths adrift of eventual winner Mishriff.
Balding is now preparing to drop the three-year-old back down to a mile, targeting a tilt at the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Champions Day in October.
He said: "She's gone home for a short holiday, which was always the plan, and we'll try to freshen her up for Champions Day.
"She'll target the mile race and the likelihood is it'll be soft ground, which seems to suit her well."
No plans finalised for Winter Power
It is unclear where Nunthorpe Stakes winner Winter Power will race next, according to trainer Tim Easterby.
When up against the fancied Golden Pal and Suesa, Easterby's filly sensationally won the five-furlong contest at York's Ebor Festival for a maiden Group One success.
It was her third win at York this year, with the other two coming in Listed contests, and now plenty of doors are set to open.
But Easterby is not rushing to make any choices yet.
He said: "She's come out of the Nunthorpe well and she's in good form.
"We don't quite know what the plans are for the rest of the season yet. There are two obvious races, the one in Ireland [Flying Five] and the [Prix de] l'Abbaye, but she's just nicely back from the Nunthorpe, so we've no idea yet."
Weld looking to build up Tarnawa before Arc
Trainer Dermot Weld expects Tarnawa to give a good account of herself when running the Irish Champions Stakes at Leopardstown on September 11.
The five-year-old made her seasonal reappearance at the same course three weeks ago, winning the Group Three Ballyroan Stakes in convincing fashion.
Previous successes include two Group Ones in France as well as a Breeders' Cup win.
Weld is now expecting her to challenge before she heads to Paris for a crack at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
He said: "We're hopeful. At the top end, it's always difficult to get the stars as competition in world racing is so keen at the very top.
"She's got a very good chance and I expect her to give a good account of herself."
Davison aiming big with Mooneista
Trainer Jack Davison is confident stable star Mooneista can win once again at Curragh in September.
The three-year-old is entered in the Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend as she attempts her first Group One win.
She enters on the back of a Group Two win at Curragh in the Sapphire Stakes and has also won races at Naas and Down Royal.
Davison, one of the youngest trainers in the sport at just 34, believes his filly is in a good place to win.
He said: "We're very positive. Mooneista has never been better and is thriving. We're looking forward to the Flying Five and hoping that everything goes well between now and then.
"I think she goes there with a realistic chance. She's rated 112 and I would be confident that she's improved since the Sapphire. She loves the Curragh."
