Pontefract racecourse hosts a seven-race card on Tuesday

Racing at Pontefract is from 1.50pm through until 5.15pm and conditions at the picturesque venue are set to be 'Good to soft'.

We've selected five to follow on the Pontefract card.

LiveScore Five To Follow at Pontefract on Tuesday

2.25pm - Family Day On 25th July Handicap (1m2f)

Last-time-out winners Tombolo and EPIDEMIC are both set to feature prominently again. The former was as good as ever in his Chester success 24 days ago and could have more to give having been bumped up 4lb by the assessor for that win.

It's the same story for George Boughey's Exceed And Excel gelding, as he is 4lb higher here than for his gutsy Leicester win 12 days ago. That was his second win from three starts this season and there should be more improvement to come.

Ryan Moore takes over in the plate now and, off a feather weight, his is the best claim on paper.

LiveScore Selection: Epidemic

3pm - Weatherbys Bloodstock Pro Pipalong Stakes (Fillies' And Mares' Listed, 1m)

David O'Meara is eyeing Pontefract success on Tuesday
David O'Meara is eyeing Pontefract success on Tuesday

The feature race on the card and Agincourt is the standard-bearer in this fillies' contest for trainer David O'Meara. She ran a pleasing race in a Royal Ascot Group 2 last time and will no doubt relish this drop in class. She is, however, taking on some very promising younger rivals.

LIGHTS ON races in the Cheveley Park colours and represents the old firm of Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore. She won her first two starts of this season before struggling to land a blow in the Kensington Palace handicap at Royal Ascot.

Racing in rear didn't help in that big-field scenario and the Siyouni filly should be right at home in this smaller line-up. She is worth her place in this company and makes solid appeal.

LiveScore Selection: Lights On

3.35pm - King Richard III Handicap (6f)

It's probably best to overlook ABERAMA GOLD's run in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot last month. He wasn't ever in much of a position to do damage in that hot contest and is better judged on his efforts at Doncaster and Epsom this term.

The Keith Dalgleish-trained four-year-old drops down to a mark of 99 here and a big run could be the result on his first visit to Pontefract.

LiveScore Selection: Aberama Gold

4.10pm - Book Tickets Online At pontefract-races.co.uk Handicap (1m)

The slight ease underfoot should be a positive for Richard Fahey's contender DELPH CRESCENT in this mile contest. He was an all-weather scorer at Southwell in February and has finished third at Beverley and Ripon in four turf starts since April.

His 2020 victories on grass came at Ripon (1m2f) and Musselburgh (1m1f), both with soft in the going description. He's within 3lb of his most recent winning-mark on this surface and conditions could be optimal here.

LiveScore Selection: Delph Crescent

5.15pm - Ladies Day On 4th August Handicap (5f)

No hanging about in the finale as they go over five furlongs and AVA GO JOE should be going close for Tim Easterby. He was a maiden winner at Beverley over this trip in June and found only a very well-handicapped winner too good back there last week on his first start in this sphere.

He is turned out quickly here from an unchanged mark and it will be no great surprise if he can go a spot better.

LiveScore Selection: Ava Go Joe
