Arsenal to win & under 0.5 Bournemouth goals

Arsenal will attempt to extend a four-game win streak when they face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Gunners sit third in the Premier League, two points off the top, as domestic action resumes following an international break where injury concerns again dogged them.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola bemoaned his side’s lack of cutting edge in the 1-0 defeat at Leicester City that preceded the break.

The Cherries are down in 13th place in the standings, one place lower than they finished in the Spaniard’s first season in charge.

Team news

Bournemouth hope to have Tyler Adams available for the first time since he underwent back surgery in the summer, but Milos Kerkez is a doubt after withdrawing from the Hungary squad last week.

As for Arsenal, manager Mikel Arteta was positive about the prospects of Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz featuring in this game after both players missed matches for their respective countries last week.

Saka limped off in England's defeat to Greece, but Arteta said it was "not a serious injury", while he also played down the severity of the knee problem that forced Havertz to miss Germany’s two recent Nations League matches.

However, Gabriel Martinelli’s involvement on Saturday appears to be less likely after he returned from Brazil duty with a calf problem.

Martin Odegaard (ankle) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee) remain out, while Kieran Tierney (hamstring), Oleksandr Zinchenko (calf) and Ben White (groin) are under assessment.

Arsenal are hopeful that Kai Havertz will recover from a knee problem to feature at Bournemouth.

The stats

Only Wolves and West Ham have committed more fouls than Bournemouth (100) in the Premier League this season.

In their past two away fixtures, the Cherries have accumulated a combined tally of 36 shots against Liverpool and Leicester, but have failed to score in either game.

Arsenal have kept 13 away clean sheets in 22 games since the start of last season, five more than any other Premier League club.

The Gunners were the only club to win all of their Premier League games (18) in 2023-24 when they were ahead at half-time, but they have already failed to win two matches when ahead at the break this season.

Prediction

Arsenal’s defensive record away from home is outstanding and should be the basis for Arteta’s side to claim all three points on the South Coast.

The Gunners have conceded only five Premier League goals on their travels since the start of the year and four of those came in two epic contests against Tottenham and Manchester City.

They had the lowest expected goals against (xGA) of all the clubs in Europe’s top five leagues last season and the early signs are that they should be just as tough to break down this term.

The Cherries have been creating plenty of chances, but their conversion rate has been very poor as they adjust to life without Dominic Solanke.

They failed to score at home to any of the title-contending trio of Arsenal, Liverpool and City last season and will probably come up short in Saturday evening’s clash too.
