Wales manager Rob Page will be eager to see his side claim a victory in Yerevan

- Wales have won last two qualifiers and last three games overall
- Armenia are winless in four and have lost their last three
- Recommended bet: Wales to win

Wales were beaten 4-2 by Armenia when these sides met in the reverse fixture in Cardiff back in June, but they will fancy their chances of taking revenge when the pair meet again on Saturday.

After that defeat and a loss to Turkey in their next game, Rob Page’s men have hit form and have won their last three games, including two key qualifying wins.

The Dragons made a huge statement by overcoming Croatia 2-1 in their last qualifier and now have their destiny in their own hands with just two games remaining.

Armenia are still in contention for a spot at Euro 2024, but they will need to beat both Wales and Croatia to secure a place at a major tournament for the first time in their history.

The hosts’ form has dipped and they head into Saturday’s crucial game seeking to end a run of three consecutive defeats.

Team news

Wales remain without Aaron Ramsey, so veteran wing-back Ben Davies will captain the side in the midfielder’s absence.

Davies’ Tottenham team-mate Brennan Johnson is back in the squad after missing October's fixtures through injury and Joe Morrell is back after suspension.

Coventry’s Jay Dasilva and Sunderland defender Niall Huggins will be hoping to make their Wales debuts.

Armenia boss Oleksandr Petrakov rotated his team for the 3-1 friendly defeat to North Macedonia in their last game in October, but will revert to his best available XI for the visit of the Welsh.

Slovan Bratislava winger Tigran Barseghyan and Argentina-born Lucas Zelarayan are their key attacking threats.

The stats

Wales have won their last three games, while Armenia are winless in four games and have lost their last three.

Wales are bidding to reach a third consecutive major tournament and have conceded just one goal in their last four games.

Armenia have lost four of their last six home games (W1, D1).

Prediction

Wales’ hopes of reaching Euro 2024 appeared slim when they were beaten 4-2 by Armenia in Cardiff back in June, but that feels like a distant memory for Page’s troops now.

The Dragons sit in second spot in Group D and know they will be heading to Germany if they manage to better Croatia’s results in their final two games, starting with a win over Armenia.

The hosts should draw some confidence from their win in Cardiff but in truth that scoreline flattered them and they played against 10 men for the final 12 minutes as Kieffer Moore was dismissed.

A desire to make amends for that humbling loss and the chance to qualify will be motivating factors for Wales here, and they are clearly the form team of the two ahead of Saturday’s game.

Armenia have struggled for results at home, losing two of their three home qualifiers so far, and Wales can give their hopes of booking a spot at Euro 2024 a huge boost by claiming maximum points.
